    I didn't send my son to school to be a punching bag for the teacher or anyone else. I never slapped him and I wouldn't let anyone else get by with it.

    I learned not to bother with the school - go directly to the police and file charges - be aware that they will likely go absolutely no where but rest assured, no one will slap him in the face again. They only learn from real complaints that they forced to handle - parents who think that teachers know best are doomed to disappointment.

    First thing I would do is investigate and see if the slap was warranted.....

    I one time years ago told my track coach to go to hell,. he decked me... Went home with a swollen jaw,, Dad asked me what happened,, I said the track coach hit me... Father went to the coach , got the story, The other side of my jaw was sore.....

    i wouldnt let him go to school again until we figured it all out. i would go to the principal, tell them what my son and his friend told me, and ask about having a few of the kids in my sons class to ask what happened, and if it the teacher did hit my child, i'd file charges and ask for that teacher to be taken out of the class room.

    In many cases my kids may have desirved it and if they did they would get it worse when they got home.

    I had teachers step on my toes, lock me in a supply closet, paddle my ass and put me to the ground with a firm grip to my collar bone. I survived and I’m a better, more respectful person for the process.

    I would go to the principal and demand he or she take action. If they don't take action, or if they don't take what you see as the appropriate action, then file charges.

    I think the teacher could have taken other more appropriate actions for something like that. I still don't think it's professional or acceptable to hit a kid in school. Let the parent deal with it.
