As a mother, did you ever get into a heated shouting match with your teenage daughter and scream, "I wish you were never born!" which, in essence, you are stating that you wish you would have aborted her?

- Veritas 2012/06/07 09:04:10OtherWe had some scenes, but I NEVER would have even thought about saying such a thing to her. My mother said it to me. More than once. She also told me she didn't like me. She would say, "I love you, but really, I do not like you." I think this is verbal abuse. If your own mother does not like you, who will? I can't begin to tell you how this has damaged me.reply

+1That was awful of your mother to say that to you Marci ... :(reply - MJ Cantus_... 2012/06/06 19:12:26
+1Yes it was. We had many heated shouting matches. She always seemed to take her anger out on me rather than my other siblings! We were never close.reply - Cantus_... MJ 2012/06/06 19:18:39
+1I see that you are listed at age 55 and since you still mention it i am going to assume that it never got any better. What's worse than a parent that says this to their child is one who never improves in their parenting skills or does not even bother to try.reply - MJ Cantus_... 2012/06/06 20:16:40
+1It never got better between mom and me. Luckily for me I had other positive female role models in my life.reply - Cantus_... MJ 2012/06/06 20:46:06
+1It's unfortunate that when parents take on the responsibility of a child/children that they don't think to better themselves for their children, especially and i do mean especially if they were treated no better when they were younger themselves. We have at least 18 years to better ourselves for our children and for someone not to take advantage of that is just being plain silly. Sorry to hear at your age that you are still not getting along with your mother, hugs to you Marci, you have yourself a good day on Sodahead as i have to go take care of some errands .....reply - just me MJ 2012/06/06 21:08:19
+1Sorry, Marci. I know there are things people say in anger and frustration that we never forget. I was adopted and my adopted mom used to tell me I had bad blood. Never forgot.reply - MJ just me 2012/06/06 22:59:09
+1Sorry !Hugs to you !reply - just me MJ 2012/06/07 01:21:33
