Say it ain't so, Ah-nold.

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver announced they are separating after nearly 25 years of marriage.

The former First Couple of California waited four months after Schwarzenegger ended his eight-year term as governor of California and a few months before he returns to his acting career.

Schwarzenegger and Shriver formed one of the highest profile American couples. "The Governator" was a two-term governor of California (2003-2011), a Hollywood movie star, movie producer, director, Mr. Universe, Mr. Olympia, and restaurateur.

Shriver was born into the Kennedy family as the niece of former President John F. Kennedy. Shriver earned two Emmy Awards and an Academy of Television Arts & Sciences award, a Peabody Award, and was co-anchor for NBC's coverage of the 1988 Summer Olympics.

Schwarzenegger and Shriver released a joint press statement:

This has been a time of great personal and professional transition for each of us. After a great deal of thought, reflection, discussion, and prayer, we came to this decision together. We are continuing to parent our four children together. They are the light and the center of both of our lives. We consider this a private matter, and neither we nor any of our friends or family will have further comment. We ask for compassion and respect from the media and the public.

Can any marriage survive politics, fame and fortune?

Who knows? The same thing with the Gore's after over 30 years of marriage. A lot of the times political couples do stay together because of that, politics, but its pretty hard to speculate on someone else's marriage when the old run-of-the-mill unions have a lot of difficulty being successful.

Too much feminist politics. Trashing the children's family unit is child abuse and neglect, damaging children more than many other forms of abuse that are illegal. Research shows this, contrary to longstanding feminist propaganda that "the children will be fine as long as separation is amicable". Around 80% of family break-ups are driven by the woman's wishes rather than the man's, so statistically there's an 80% chance that this break up was mainly the wish of Ms Shriver. Adults bring children into the world then prioritize their own adult selfishness and pursuit of ever-elusive 'happiness'. No-fault divorce equals no-fault sexual infidelity, no-fault contract-breaching and no-fault child abuse.

Before The Schwartzenager became the governor wasn't he supposedly playing around quite a bit? Something was going on. All that weight she lost she looked positively emaciated or was she just sick from something. I just always heard he was quite a womanizing @ss until he decided to get involved in politics. I never liked him. They should have split a long time ago. I still like his movies a lot though.

She should have left him years ago when all the crap was coming out about him! Instead now she has a sob story out about how she gave up her career so he could build his! For her to feel that way it has to have been festering all these years and that's not good on a marriage!!!
