Fireworks on the 4th of July try to remind Americans of the war for Independence from England in 1776. The fireworks represent the dangers and peril of war. In the hands of professionals, fireworks look beautiful. In the hands of amateurs, fireworks can cause serious harm.

I;n sure there is more to this than sparklers. Even several hundred lit on an end don't have that much explosive power. The equal is like a wooden match being struck.

My guess is some one added something explosive to the bundle.

Real I do both. Those kids are crazy to tie them together. But I can't talk. I have did some crazy things with fireworks....lol. Glad I didn't come away injured from it.

you would fit right in with that bunch I grewup with, using blasting caps to get fish works
but ya gotta grab & run, run like real fast, the fish hatchery people don't like thier fish blownup. :)

ohh us boys we got whipped, first we had to cut our own switches
Lord help us if mum/dad found the swtich unable to finish the task
but then, we did lots of "stuff" mum & dad never knew we did,

I got chased by a bubblebee-spinner across my lawn. It was on my back all the time til I turned a complete turn-about and it fail into a bush and the bush got on fire! That thing was out to get me! Haven't played with them since. That was about 20 yrs ago..

From being age 2 (57 yrs now) we had fireworks every year when I was growing up..Parents did the real dangerous stuff not for toddlers but as we got older we did them and never got hurt because we were trained these things are not toys. None of us would have even thought to tape sparklers together...that is not what they are for. Why do some people have to act so stupid...ruin everything for everyone else..constant regulations and bans because some people have the IQ of 12 and parents that have not taught them a thing .sparklers were not meant to be taped together ..

as far as taping things to gether, well mum did say, and I quoate

I have had the dubious pleasure of having to treat people with blown off fingers and other body parts. Some two years in a row!, After doing the same stupid thing! FIreworks=explosives. Leave it to the professionals.

Haven't 'played' with fireworks since, ummm... huh ! Can't remember, BUT

WHO KNEW sparklers would / could do such damage ?!?

I'm sure somebody knew, but it wasn't me...

Always figured those were safe ~

I guess, when used properly,

Here's a link to a Gooogle search on it. Some of those links might work for you. It appears that by wrapping aluminum foil or tape around the sparklers a bomb is created.

I don't really see the point of those that spend hundreds of dollars on fireworks when they could see a much better display by going to one of the many shows and festivals that are put on all over the place.

The knew what they were doing. They purposely taped the sparklers together knowing they would explode. I'm not saying they got what they deserved, but they did get what they were asking for.

I don't do either. I don't like how people have allowed 4th of July to be turned into this pyro holiday. It's such a waste of money, waste of resources, unnecessary stress on animals, stupid accidents AND people don't even have the decency to pick up the trash it creates. It ruins the spirit when people don't care enough about the reason for celebration
