This is an evil man that murdered innocent people.

For him to breathe air while others are in the grave seems un-just to me.

I hope he burns in hell and wish comfort to the survivors.

He's a perfect example of why there's a Death Penalty.
If this monster doesn't receive the Death Penalty, then what is it good for??

The guy should be executed for those murders. Why should the taxpayers of Arizona pay to house this crazed murderer for the rest of his life if there's no chance whatsoever of him being rehabilitated and being re-admitted into society?

I don't take the death penalty lightly and it should be very carefully used. Protections should include having the jury which convicted him recommend the death penalty by a 3/4 vote, having the judge accept the recommendation and allow for DNA evidence, if requested, should the defence have failed to present it during trial. Since there is no question on Loughner's guilt, the penalty phase should be short and swift by lethal injection.

This is as close to justice as you get other than the death penalty. Seems people like this need help with mental issues since it's not exactly normal to do what he did. Not sure he's going to get much mental help but he'll be paying daily for what he did.

...but he IS a hero of the NRA (hey remember, he DID, after all, exercise his right to keep and bear arms) and he's ALSO a hero of the both the republicans AND teabaggers (hey remember, he DID, after all, shoot a democratic congresswoman in the head..)

Instead of executing the son of a bitch, we rewarded him with free food and shelter for the rest of his life. Why are the immoral rewarded?

Nothing brings the lives back. The families don't have to relive every moment in a trial. I'd say justice was served.

I, personally, would rather relive the ordeal rather than having to live for many decades with the knowledge that the man who did this is still alive.

Let the dead bury the dead. The families have closure, while he has lifetime to rue the day.

The parents of the young girl have stated that they are in agreement with the plea bargain. They also stated they were relieved to no have to bear the burden of public trial.

Weren't there five other victims? What do ther familes think. If everyone was in agreeance i would say that justice was served. If not, pursue the death penlty.
  • Don Leuty xcide13 2012/08/09 15:26:00

The point has been decided and jeopardy attached. He cannot be retried. None of the victims families have publicly objected.
  • xcide13 Don Leuty 2012/08/09 18:57:22
    xcide13
I realize this. However the point is still up for discussion or we would not be conversing.

Just because the families are not objecting doesn't mean they are happy with the verdict.
  • Don Leuty xcide13 2012/08/10 09:35:16
    Don Leuty
The survivors will never be happy with any verdict. Bitterness and revenge are as destructive as the bullets that were fired. The effect is the same, it just prolongs the suffering and diminishes health.
  • xcide13 Don Leuty 2012/08/10 14:33:27
    xcide13
Revenge? Who mentioned anything about revenge?

I could definitely see bitterness persisting for a lifetime while the man who did this is alive.

As usual, justice was not served. Would he be my first choice to receive the death penalty over certain others though? No, there are other crimes that have been commited before this that are more befitting in my opinion. Oh yeah, and am I the only one who thinks his face looks like it's molded out of clay? Like, claymation. Creepy!

I don't support capital punishment. Our justice system is simply to flawed. Do I have a problem with this guy frying, nope. Or many others. But our system lacks the precision to get it right.

Although if we were going to do it in this case, I would want the electric chair. It would look something like this:
