Are you tired of all the hate, the judging and condemning of those who are different? Will you stand with me and say "Enough is Enough"!

ANGEL 2012/04/07 04:58:26
http://www.danoah.com/2011/11/im-christian-unless-youre-gay.html

While this article begins by discussing the Westboro Baptist Church and
their "hosting flagrant anti-gay protests", it is not just about some
Christians who condemn homosexuals, but about the hate and disdain of
many different groups and individuals who condemn others, judge others for their
alternative lifestyle, who follow different religious or spiritual
paths, and the self-righteous who disguise their hatred beneath a "
blanket of “caring” or “religious” words."

The article is about showing love and kindness towards people whose life
decisions are different than yours - whether it be religious or someone
who lives an alternative lifestyle etc. The author makes the point
that when you put your arm around those that you might otherwise look
down on, the more you will love yourself. The more you love
yourself, the less you will need to find fault with others. "And the
less we all find fault or have a need to be better than others, the
quicker this world becomes a far better place to live...Use your voice to stand up and declare that there is no other way besides love." Use your voice to say "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH".

This is about reaching out to people who are gay, who dress differently,
act differently, who are addicts, who fall away from their faith, who
aren't members of the dominant local religion, like the Pagans, Kabbalah, those involved in Scientology, or those who attend the Unitarian Church, etc., to the Atheists, to the Agnostics. Its about being decent and kind.

Here on Soda Head there are people who are dedicated to and find joy in
bringing others down because they don't follow the 'norm'. In my view,
in order to make themselves feel tall, they need to make others seem
small.

One person responded to this article asking "Why can't we just
love one another? What negativity can loving bring us as a
society...Gay, straight, black, white, tall, short, Muslim, or
Christian, we are all brothers in the same world. It's time we started acting like it."

Are you on board? Will you stand with me and say "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH"? I hope you do.

Angel
You!

Good morning Angel, thanks for the invite to your poll.

I'm with you ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. I'm tired of all the hate in the world, I'm tired of all the hate here on Sodahead, all the back stabbers, all the liars who try to hurt others because they are jealous or want to get rid of someone, I'm tired of all the hypocrites who say they are Christian and then proceed to do all the mean things they can think of to hurt others. Quoting scriptures and then doing just the opposite. I'm tired of losing friends because we don't say exactly what they want to hear.

I'm tired of all the jealousy and gossip that goes on for no reason whatsoever other than to make others look bad. I'm tired of people telling you one thing and then doing just the opposite. I'm tired of friends hurting friends and not standing behind them through thick and thin. I'm very loyal to my friends, but I've found that some of my friends aren't loyal to me. And that hurts very much. I was taught to be respectful to my fellow man.

No one cares about others and their feelings. I'm tired of so called friends talking behind backs for no reason at all, other than just to be mean. I'm tired of people who believe lies that are told about someone without any proof whatsoever.

I'm tired of all the wars, I...

I'm tired of all the wars, I'm tired of all the political hate that goes on, no one wants to debate anymore, just to see how much havoc they can cause on here. I'm tired of all the bullies and cowards who cause some to kill themselves, and then laugh about it. I'm tired of those on SH who try to intimidate others. We should watch what we say to others, we never kinow how fragile that other person might be and what they might do to themselves or to lash out at others with guns.

Whatever happened to just being nice and respectful to one another. What ever happened to forgiveness for what's been done? It's all gone.

We should examine ourselves, and our actions on this blessed holiday, ask for forgiveness for those that we have hurt, and try to be civil from now on.

I guess I'm just plain tired of all of it!!!!!

    Have a nice day!

How about we just try and get as far as being civil? That would be an automatic improvement on the situation as it stands now.

The problems started when the gay community, not all but a few very loud and in your face members started pushing their life style down our throats. I have nothing against those who elect to ignore the norm and decide to go their own way so long as they do not try to force feed us their beliefs. I say to each his/her own. No one in the gay community needs nor should they solicit anyone's approval. That means they should live their life style and stop forcing others to give their stamp of approval on their behavior. I don't personally care what they do so long as they stop asking others to be forced participants and accept a life style which their religion preaches against.

I don't agree that that is where the problems started. This is not just a gay issue, it is a religious issue, a race issue - its so much bigger than that. There are others accusing the religious of pushing their beliefs on others - and the atheists of pushing their agenda, and on and on and on. We can accuse others of doing this or that - but I think that changing the tide begins with the man in the mirror and how we treat others whose life styles we may not approve of, whose religious beliefs may not be the same as our own.

What happened to my rights or your rights in all of this? People should just live their lives and stop trying to force their beliefs through legislation while disregarding the feelings and teachings of others.

I try my best to treat everyone the same. People say never discuss politics or religion with others because it will stir up a fight. When I work with others, or interact with others I do my best to follow that course.

The problem is that people in general are not taught discretion, the society has become too lax.

I agree with you about everything except one point. Sometimes (and it is unfortunate) it is only through legislation that someone's rights can be protected and guaranteed. I am one who feels that there is too much government in my life - but there are times that it has its place.

I am glad you try to treat everyone the same. It is how I also try to lead my life.

I’m relatively new here…so I don’t mind the anger. It seems to come from someone new each time. And I like to read what other people are thinking about current issues and trivial questions. Ignorance and hatred only bother me a little here because it’s only on the computer.

The one thing I have learned through the years is that mean people can’t stand to be treated with kindness, so my over the top respect for their opinion may not be so sincere, but it does really upset them when they can’t draw me into their argument. Mean…maybe, hurtful..no.

I am completely with you. I am sick to death of hatred, intollerance, ill will, vitriol, violence and non-stop sniping, grousing and fighting. We are all sisters and brothers. I'm with anyone who is happy about that and looks for the best in everyone and for everyone. Those who live in a constant state of war are welcome to it - somewhere else.

I would definitely like to see the ignorant, blind hatred eliminated from public discourse. I would also like to see the wimpy "they didn't agree with me so they must be haters" attitude removed as well.

I would like to see an environment where people can actually have a mature, reasoned discourse without lapsing to denigration, or being offended that someone doesn't see things their way.

There are many points of view I disagree with, many lifestyles or beliefs I think are wrong. At the same time, there a people I love dearly who hold those points of view. I have no problem getting along with someone who doesn't see things my way, or who lives a different lifestyle. I do my best to live at peace with those around me. I'd hope that more people on SH and in the real world would do the same.

"If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men." (Romans 12:18 NASB)

Very good post, very good linked blog
I am sure not everybody took the time to read until the last page so please permit me to quote the request made by the author because I think it's the corner stone of his plea

" Will you please join me?

My request today is simple. Today. Tomorrow. Next week. Find somebody, anybody, that’s different than you. Somebody that has made you feel ill-will or even [gulp...] hateful. Somebody whose life decisions have made you uncomfortable. Somebody who practices a different religion than you do. Somebody who has been lost to addiction. Somebody with a criminal past. Somebody who dresses “below” you. Somebody with disabilities. Somebody who lives an alternative lifestyle. Somebody without a home.

Somebody that you, until now, would always avoid, always look down on, and always be disgusted by.

Reach your arm out and put it around them.

And then, tell them they’re all right. Tell them they have a friend. Tell them you love them.

If you or I wanna make a change in this world, that’s where we’re gonna be able to do it. That’s where we’ll start.

    Every. Single. Time."

I think you are going to have to except one thing! You are not going to have every one like or except you!

Many people are going to hate or dislike you!

This is all about the choices people make in there lives! I understand you do not like Christians and there way of life and many of them do not like you and your way of life!

The fact is you are very luck to be living in the USA! Where you can choose how you want to live and not be killed or isolated from the rest of society!

You can not find may places you can go that are tolerant. The few that are, do not let very many people become citizens or there economies are not very good and there is no way to have a very good standard of living!

My suggestion is to keep your personal life to your self and concentrate on improving your self!

If every one did this the the intolerance will take care of it self!

You are very concerned with "intolerance" go to the Middle east and jump up and down and say "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH"!

You will not get any one to help you when you are being dragged down the street and hung!

Remember! The same right that let you shoot your mouth off on Soda Head is the same right "Westboro Baptist Church" has to say what that want!

Be careful what you wish for!

YES! I will join you in saying Enough is Enough.
I have had enough of the races sayng my race is better than yours because of this and your race is bad and mine is good because of that. We are all different but all equal; every race has it's inherent advantages and disadvantages.
The religious hatred is the worst to me. One saying my holy book is better than your holy book because my holy book says so even though your holy book says the same about mine. Seriously it begins to sound like a 'my daddy can beat up your daddy' argument by 6 year olds on the playground. Worse thing is all of them have as a core belief to treat all humans with the respect and kindness you want for yourself.
Respect others beliefs and they will respect yours. If you fail to respect others beliefs and few will respect yours.

uhhh...i disagree. we must hate what is bad. judge for yourself. a line has to be drawn some where between right and wrong. but many people cross the line. wrong is wrong and many people want a wrong to be a right like homosexuality, sexual molesters, murder, stealing, lying. and or drug use and other things to satisfy their own desire. it does not make it "hate" if we condemn these things. only good moral judgement.

Of course you are free to disagree. I don't entirely disagree with you though. There are times when you can't be complacent and just think everything will go well. There are times when we have to stand up when, for example, someone is being abused, when our freedoms are threatened, to stand up against terrorism. We can't just do nothing. That is how the Nazis gained power. So when I post these flowery "let's love everyone" polls - I'm not meaning to say that we do so exclusively. That would be very irresponsible. We need to keep our eyes opened. I think it comes down to choosing one's battles and tempering your life with good, positive thoughts, people, etc.
