When there is a threat, complaint or anything else trying to come between us. The buck stops with me. Period. Other than that, we make decisions collectively. Neither one has "power" over the other. My machismo is well under control.

I am and I live with my mother. Funny how that happens...

I got this position because my father died and my mom has yet to recover. It's not totally fair, I haven't begun to grieve for my dad. My mom would blow all her money if I didn't control it, so I have to be the head of the home.

My husband is and I'm perfectly okay with it. He always listens to what I have to say on any given matter and considers my well-being before his own. He makes a very good head of the household and I wouldn't have it any other way.

We had a little thing called women's lib in the interim. But I don't care for the top much - I'm irresponsible, on the other hand I don't lick boots either - so...

The best way to translate this concept into a more international one would be with patriarch (or matriarch). Though Head of Household packs less of a punch (I think).

My dad was the head of our household when I lived there but I do feel that the term is rather outdated in todays society. Myself and my fiancee are equals at home, we both work, we both care for the children, we both do housework. I think my cat reckons he might be the head of household though.....must have words with him!
