Are you surprised to find your taxes will rise this year after all?

The "fiscall cliff" was narrowly avoided but a tax increase will still affect an estimated 160 million workers. As part of the deal on the so-called fiscal cliff, Congress extended tax breaks for middle-income families but did not extend a payroll tax cut that was set to expire this year.

As of Tuesday, working Americans saw a tax on their paychecks rise to 6.2% from 4.2% last year. Economists estimate that this could strip $115 billion in disposable income from the economy this year.

I knew that they would go up on Nov. 6, when Obama was re-elected.

And they won't go down until Obama and his spendthrift gang of thugs leave office, and adults are put back in charge

    HAHAHA!!! Suprised?

Not only will the average (middle-class) family see almost $2,000 less this year due to the payroll tax being increased as a result of the fiscal cliff "solution". But with Obamacare taxes coming online AND the fact the Dems announced today they want a Trillion more in taxes a year EVERYONE should expect to pay more. I'm guessing the average burden will end up in the $4,000 - $5,000 range.

Just remember all of you middle-class suckers that fell for the class-warfare shtick and voted for O that you were told REPEATEDLY that none of your taxes would increase.

I was surprised to find that they rose after I retired!

BTW the cliff was not avoided, since they spent all of the tax increase even before they got their hands on it.

It is also not surprising there were no spending cuts either. Spend more tax more... isn't that what government does best?

Mine will not. My income is fairly low. Some people, who make more money than me, or who have kids, will see an increase in their tax or a reduction in their credits (which has an effect of increasing taxes). But, at the same time, the brackets are wider this year than in previous years.

By the way, the Social Security tax did not increase, it simply returned to its earlier level. You didn't really think that would last forever, did you?

So, you are under the impression that because you won't be using the insurance, you won't be paying for it? REALLY??
  • TKramar Faith ~... 2013/01/08 20:59:44

I'll be paying the fine. You can pay for insurance, or you can pay a fine. Paying the fine is cheaper.

You don't actually think that those making a few hundred thousand are the only ones that will see a tax increase, do you?

Actually, since I'm a tax preparer, and I'm up to date on the tax laws, I know better than most of the idiots here.

Haha, you keep telling yourself that. You must be SO well informed, that's why they pay you the big bucks, right? Lmao

Lmao, you're making an assumption, and an asinine one at that. My husband is a CPA and CFO and I PROMISE he is better informed than you. In fact, your comments prove it.
  • TKramar Faith ~... 2013/01/09 11:11:29
    TKramar
Your husband is a CPA, but you aren't. And just because he's a CPA doesn't mean he specializes in preparing taxes. In fact, if he's the CFO, he's got people to do it FOR him. And they know a hell of a lot more about it than he himself does.
  • Faith ~... TKramar 2013/01/09 14:50:02

Lmao, you have GOT to stop making assumptions, you're embarrassing yourself.
  • TKramar Faith ~... 2013/01/09 15:01:42

No, I'm stating truths that you cannot handle. Most CPAs do not deal in taxes.
  • Faith ~... TKramar 2013/01/09 15:11:56 (edited)
    Faith ~American Patriot~
No, your stating your opinion. Seeing as how you don't know my family, you have NO CLUE what you are talking about. Some CPAs may not, my husband happens to be one that does. And no, he doesn't have others that do it for him. Why would he pay someone to do something he can do a better job of himself? Keep in mind, there are computer programs that do your job. Why people continue to use you guys is beyond me. There is also a reason for the HUGE salary differences between what you make, and what he makes, and the amount of knowledge and experience he has is one of them.
  • TKramar Faith ~... 2013/01/09 15:15:34
    TKramar
And you claim he's a CFO, which means he does very little of the work himself, instead he has people that work FOR him. A CFO has better things to do than to get into the details of a large corporation.
  • Faith ~... TKramar 2013/01/09 16:26:58 (edited)
    Faith ~American Patriot~
Lmao. Your ignorance is ASTOUNDING. But I guess that's why you get paid the big bucks, right? What, $12-$15 an hour? Ha.
  • TKramar Faith ~... 2013/01/09 16:55:02
    TKramar
Your ignorance is what's astounding. I have the information, and I disseminate it to my clients--it's what I'm paid to do. I don't give it out freely, and I don't try to misinform people, as you are doing.
  • Faith ~... TKramar 2013/01/09 16:59:52
    Faith ~American Patriot~
Hahahaha, if you're telling people that their taxes will not go up due to obamacare, you are absolutely misinforming them. Again, that's why you get paid the big bucks, lmao
  • TKramar Faith ~... 2013/01/09 17:06:23

Most people will find that they are in the same tax bracket as they were last year, unless they make a large sum, and get into the new tier.
