How we feel about our lives is often directly tied to our attitude. If we are always comparing what we have or what we have done with others that we perceive to have had it better then of course we will not be happy with our lives. No matter what we have done with our lives there is always someone else that seems to have it better. Of course the reality of that is almost always not at all what we think.
My life has had it's ups and downs like everyone else. However as I look back over it I feel greatly blessed. I have always enjoyed good health. I have been married three times and have two fantastic children from the first marriage. I have three grandchildren that I could not imagine how anyone could be more pleased than I am with them.
There are so many more things that go into my life but often it takes having reached your golden years that allows you to look back and only then can you gain a true perspective.
While I have never achieved greatness and only a select few know of me I feel like my life has been all, or even more, than I could have ever ask for. What we have done or what we have achieved is not nearly as important as who we are as a person and how we feel about the people we have encountered in our life. That is far more important.
Are you really disappointed with your life?

I've had several careers, changing whenever I started to dislike what I was doing. I have two Bachelor's degrees, one Master's and an Associate because changing careers meant learning something new...something I love doing. I have had good relationships (few, but superior ones), good friendships and good working colleagues. I'm not as rich as I'd like to be but I don't think anyone is as rich as they'd like to be.
I've had my ups and downs, like everyone else, but things always straightened out, eventually, and the doing of it was interesting. And, sometimes, fun. I enjoy challenges and when things go wonky, there is real pleasure in trying to figure out how to fix them.
My only real disappointment is that I was physically unable to have children. I like kids and I think that having them would have been a marvelous experience. I wish I could have done that.
Other than that, when I lie on my deathbed, I'll be smiling.
I do hope to keep breathing in and breathing out for a good while, yet. The women in my family seem to go on forever.
