Why not? However. if you invested it, the return on your bacon could be in filets; but it might not be wise to hide your earnings under a mattress.

This gives a whole new meaning to "bringing home the bacon" and then "chewing on the fat;" and your dog just might digest your 401k.

You'd be better with your money in bacon than dollars. Dollars are dropping like the rain and pork has value. Also, you can eat it. And I never eat pork. You might save these words for later; you may want to eat them.

ANYTHING can be currency. The only thing that makes something currency is if another person trades goods or services for the item. A dollar bill (or any denomination) is worthless in and of itself, unless somebody gives you something in exchange for it. If somebody is willing to accept bacon for an item, it's just as good for currency as anything.

Of course, not many governments want dollars any more. China has been the dominant economy since 2009. The Yuan rules. Bacon would work.

True... the dollar isn't worth as much as it used to be. The only thing that determines how strong a currency is is confidence... of which there is little in the US dollar these days.

Not kosher or halal. Not vegan or vegetarian friendly either. Why not gold or silver coinage? At least that won't expire. However truth is the bacon is still worth more than a Federal Reserve Note (for that matter almost anything is).

Well bacon, or any food actually for that matter is a good currency because it actually has real value and is needed to live. Gold and silver are just shiny rocks and dollars are just paper their only worth what we say there worth.

How is one to know the bacon is safe to eat? That is a problem but not only that certain people will not eat or touch bacon under any circumstances (due to Biblical decree [Leviticus]) and therefore it is impossible to trade it with them. A better currency would be to trade something like dried lentils. They will last and are a superior source of iron, fiber and other nutrition. They can be used by almost anyone and can be eaten whenever needed just about.

Well pork is a meat that can be unsafe to eat because of all the diseases it can cause, if it is cooked properly it is safe to eat but in reality beef and chicken are still better for you. The best is actually fish, most fish is safe to eat and really good for you.
