Hewlett-Packard is officially introducing its first Chromebook laptop, a $329.99 machine with a larger screen than any other Google-powered computer on the market. The computer, formally named the "HP Pavilion Chromebook," was expected after a file was discovered on HP's website last week with details about the laptop.

The standout feature on the HP Pavilion Chromebook is its 14-inch display, which has a 1,366 by 768 pixel resolution. The screen is larger than that of other Chromebook laptops, which offer 11.6-inch and 12-inch displays. Additionally, the HP Pavilion Chromebook runs on an Intel Celeron 847 dual-core 1.1GHz processor. It comes with 16 gigabytes of internal storage and an additional 100 GB of cloud storage with Google.

I could get a stronger laptop for the same price, and there is just nothing special about this one.

Too large and expensive for a netbook, not as portable and cheap as a tablet, and not powerful enough for a work-and-gaming laptop. Besides, who needs yet another OS? Why can't Google stick with Android? How many times are people supposed to buy Angry Birds?

I will stick with my mac until it dies. That's a pretty affordable machine though. If only there were an Asus in that price range.

no one has mentioned how much that 100 gb of cloud storage with google will cost after the 2 years, nor does it say how much access google is given to the information stored in the cloud. I won't be buying one for those two reasons

Thanks! I hadn't seen that before. If I calculated correctly, 100 gb of chrome storage would be around $8.5 per month?

    Good guy Google.
In the areas where they offer Google Fiber, which is 100x faster than your standard internet, they offer standard internet for free.

    eh... kinda?

I mean for around 100 more you can get a full Windows 7 or 8 laptop so what's the point of this? Even less if you find a good deal.

If it ws like 150 it might be worth it, but just get a tablet and a micro usb keyboard.

Why the hell would I want a laptop that has no real operating system, you can't install REAL software on and is basically a glorified tablet with a keyboard? Sorry, REAL laptops FTW. I hope we never get rid of that infrastructure until tablets start having 1tb hard drives and the ability to install software, not just apps

I love my HP, but my laptop is monumentally better for me and it was less than $100 dollars more. From what I see, that computer would not fit me at all and It's expensive for what it's got. I'd rather have a small tablet.

I dunno; maybe. The price is nice, and the speed and 'in-house' specific operating system are intriguing enough for me to want to learn more.

But, can we get above a 14" screen? This 14" is apparently the GIANT version of this product.

I need a 17.3" screen, no 'ifs', 'ands' or 'buts'. I don't care how great a laptop's performance is or how little it costs if I can't even read what's on the screen.

The first actually good chromebook. Minus the CPU, some actual memory, a nice screen size, and a nice price.

I never really saw the point in getting a scaled down laptop.
