Google is stepping into uncharted technology territory, with its new product, the Google Glass. Despite the Glass looking like something a Dragon Ball Z Saiyan would wear, it is actually augmented reality headgear that allows you to perform much of the actions you'd do with your smartphone--only via voice command. While you might have to get specifically fitted for the glasses, they allow you to take more control of what you're used to doing with your external mobile device.
For example, if your eyes through the glasses see a lake, you can command Glass to take a picture of exactly what your eyes see. You can also record video, share posts and whatever you're currently seeing via social media and with friends, and even use it as a GPS. Instead of looking down at your GPS to see if you're going the right way, you can follow the directions more closely.
Other features include basic messaging, being able to lookup various facts in realtime about locations you're currently at (such as the Eifel Tower's length), translating, and of course, the always important Google search. This ambitious product from Google retails at $1500 and is currently available for developers and beta testers. It will be available to the public later this year.

I just hope that they'll be prescription-friendly. Last I heard (some time last year I asked) in terms of 20/20, my vision is 20/400....I'm BLIND.
I need to be alone with my thoughts every now and then, not constantly checking up on what is not in my immediate field of vision.
A few years ago I didn't /need/ a cell phone either but the times are a changing. Perhaps one day we will need these just to keep up with society.
and let's not forget there are some places a robot just wouldn't be practical. maintenance and repair work is a good example.
I wouldn't buy those for 100 dollars. I might get mugged for wearing them or accidentally sit on them.
Thank you! Call me...!
Affordable desktop computers were introduced before I began school, now you have to be fluent in hundreds of programs to even compete in the job market and graduate.
Technology is taking over our lives and not for the better.
