It's about that time of year, when high school graduates prepare for the next phase in their lives: College. For many students, it's an uncertain and unpredictable stage. They're starting over in a big way, but know it will be more uplifting and exciting than the transition into high school. College is that ephemeral life-limbo where Facebook started, where "Animal House" took place, and where you (supposedly) decide what to do for the rest of your life.

    At least, it started out that I was doing my own thing. My parents are both computer programmers. I am majoring in Anthropology and minoring in Computer Science. I wanted to be a living history interpreter with my degree. Completely different career path than my parents. Except, now I'm considering either becoming a software engineer or a tech writer.

    Though, it's along the same lines as my mother's talent, if it's Art. If I go for Editing/Proofreading, then it's totally my own thing.

    Parents were both in the Navy. Mom got out and became a housewife/mother and dad got a job doing computer stuff a few years ago. None of that interests me. I want to open my own wildlife sanctuary. All about the animals for me and it always has been :)

    In high school, I thought about doing what my Dad does. I thought it was cool and I enjoyed keeping current with what he was doing and read the books he brought home. However, I decided to go a different path when I went off to university. Became a geologist, worked for a while, got married, made VERY good money, But when we started planning for a family we realized how difficult it would be, with me working long hours and my wife's health being far from perfect. So, I went back to school and ended up doing the exact same thing as him, as I originally planned; Information System Security.

    My career was completely different from that of either parent. I only wish my mother had lived long enough to see me graduate.

    My mother thought I was a "DUMBASS", my stepfather thought I was just little more than a nuisance or "nothing" most of the time!! My father(before he died) thought I had "UNLIMITED possibilities........He had a medical career in mind for me.... as far back as second grade !!

    Well my parents were both in the navy, and I have no interest in that.
    Now my dad tests software and my mom doesn't have a job but she I think she still sells make-up and used to be a substitute teacher.
    I would ideally like to dabble in the arts, but my main interest is videography, which isn't really anything like their jobs.
