It's about that time of year, when high school graduates prepare for the next phase in their lives: College. For many students, it's an uncertain and unpredictable stage. They're starting over in a big way, but know it will be more uplifting and exciting than the transition into high school. College is that ephemeral life-limbo where Facebook started, where "Animal House" took place, and where you (supposedly) decide what to do for the rest of your life.

Whether you're going into college, went to college "back in the day," or are hoping to go at some point in the future, take our 6-question Quick Poll when you get the chance and let us know what your experience was like, or how you expect it to play out.

Thanks to the war had my parents no education like that and no career. They tried to do this and that just to survive.
I was the first one in the entire family who went to study technical stuff. My dad did all that we children have a chance for a better life.

I hate my mom's job! She works at a hospital and does pregnancies and I SOOOO don't wanna do that, it's gross to me. I want to be a fashion designer for clothes in the future. =)

It's a funny thing, but during my nursing studies, the one part that squicked me out was gynecology. To me, the external plumbing is no different from looking at an arm or a leg, I've seen it so much. But looking inside? ACK! I felt kind of faint. Which is bizarre, seeing as that's the same plumbing that I've got myself!

At the moment I think I'm going to go into medicine. My mom was a dancer and went into executive search when she retired, and my dad worked with the circus before becoming a talent manager and occasional producer. Interesting how although I'm choosing a more "conventional" career it's radically different from what either one of my parents do or did.

I work in the methane industry just like my dad did. I work for a different company than he did, but one of the guys he used to work with came to work at my company. It's kind of cool to work with someone I've known since I was a kid.

My Dad practically forbid me to take on his career, even though he taught me just about everything I would need to know. He said "women don't do this kid of work". He was a master machinist, mechanic, welder. My Mom was a mathematicians aide at NASA - - I hate math.

I'm doing my own thing at the moment. But something around my mom's line of work is what I'd love to do as sort of a plan B. She was a social worker and my heart is out to help kids and their families.

But it was very dangerous (my mom encouraged me to do something a little more safe) so maybe a youth consular or maybe in early childhood development and specialize in kid with learn disabilities like autism, ADD, and ADHA.

I install coupon machines and ads at local supermarket and drug store chains, and work at a Bed and Breakfast. I'm also an entrepreneur

My dad was a history teacher at a prep school and my mom is a gardener turned massage therapist/swing dance teacher.

I'd say no. I'm my own person.

I'm aiming for tenure at a quiet University in the North Eastern US.

My father has always been in sales and my mother has been a Library Assistant or a Teaching Assistant. I'm currently a graduate Teaching Assistant and full-time student. My dream is to earn a PhD and see my mother earn her Bachelor's before I'm 30.

If I had to pick one, it would be my mom's job in a heartbeat, but that would mean creating considerable student loan debt, and I'm not sure I want to spend 4 years of my life in law school.
