They are friendly acquaintances, for me to name someone a friend calls for a level of trust and familiarity not present there.

I am friendly with them , but I don`t want to hang out with them. Most of them just want to borrow things, or use the phone....they`re always wanting something . or Always just wanting to gossip about other neighbours. ...not into those things...I don`t mind helping them but not all the time...

No, they are all too wilfully ignorant for me to tolerate in all but the smallest doses. I occasionally drink with them, which levels the field a bit. When I do so, they forbid me from discussing politics. I am sunlight to their political vampirism.

Not close friends, but we watch each other's homes and pick up mail, etc., when out of town. There are only twelve condo's in our complex.

Very neutral with neighbors, but I would love to be friends with the hot blonde that lives down the street from me!

The people I wouldn't mind being friends with, live up the block or across the street. The neighbors closest to me, I wouldn't give the time of day or a glass of water if their low life, sick, psychotic selves were dying of thirst!!
They're a bunch of wack jobs!....

Everyone should be. It's part of what makes us human: Compassion, love, empathy, sympathy, friendship... Without that, are we any better than people filled with hatred, those who would toss you into the maws of Hell for a twenty dollar bar? Or just to watch you scream? Think about it: Is a life without love for one another, is it life at all? "Every man dies, but not every man truly lives"... William Wallace

No. We are neighbors not buddies. My neighbors are neighborly without being over burden. We respect each other's privacy, but willing lends a helping hand as necessary, without being intrusive. I like my neighbors.

No, my neighbors are into alcoholism, substance abuse, they're are married with children types, or have dysfunctional kids, they making all kinds of noise with their motorcycles running up and down the street and their 4x4s. That's just not what I'm about.

I am friendly towards most of them. My next-door neighbor on the right is very friendly, but the couple on the left keep to themselves (they are not rude though and always say hi). I know the name of everyone in the culdesac except the rent house (section 8). If I were rich I'd buy the property and bulldoze it, then turn it into a community garden. I'm not rich though, so I'll STFU. There have been families in and out of it over the years. I trust most of my neighbors and some of them are especially kind and helpful. I'm glad that not many people tend to move in and out lately- I don't like to live around strangers.

One guy, "G" does half of the yards in the circle because he wants to help out. He's awesome! The guy at the end of the street though, he's another story. He lets his dog run in everyone's yard, seems to be running an illegal chopshop of some sorts. I wish that he would move away, but he probably will not. I hate him and his barking dog that he randomly lets cruise the neighborhood. It's sort of slightly aggressive, and if we call animal control it will magically disappear. I used to have to call the police just to shut the dog up at 1AM. No wonder it barks, since he keeps it in a tiny crate!

Except for the nosy creeps across the street that are always staring at my family every time we do ANYTHING.
"Come quick, the Greenwalds are unloading groceries!"

There are other reasons, but that's what bugs me the most.

On one side my neighbors hate me because of all the noise from the occasional house party, the other side hate me because we cant stop our dog getting into there garden.

I would lace my garden with ex-lax, if you were my neighbour. I would also compel you to turn your music down under the threat of conflict.

You really think I havent already? I have friends older than you, I can relate with older men, I have even thought a few a thing or two.

Maybe in America 18 year olds dont know a lot, but here, I know kids who have had experiences that bring them further in life than so many old men.

"You really think I havent already?"

    Yes.

"I have friends older than you, I can relate with older men, I have even thought a few a thing or two."

There is no substitute for experience. When I was your age I had friends older than I am now too. I was still an inexperienced child and looking back I realize those older people were losers. Otherwise, they would have been socializing with people their own age.
