They can't consent to it and it's unethical.

They can't consent to being eaten either.

What?! Who eats their pet dog or cat?

I'm saying that cows and others didn't consent to being eaten so why do dogs and cats have to consent to being neutered for their own safety?

They do in some parts of the world.

Well good for you, I guess. But you DO know that not neutering/spaying your animal leaves them at more risk of cancer, other various health issues, and bad behavior?

There are also side affects of neutering them as well. http://dogtorj.com/main-cours...

But there are more advantages than disadvantages, and far more advantages towards female dogs especially.

Okay, but I have a question. If somebody decided to neuter you without your consent, would you be ok with that?

If someone decided to eat you without consent would you be okay with that? if you eat meat, you are a hypocrite.

It depends on the situation. If I got a new dog especially a rescue then yes I would have them neutered. One of my chihuahuas is neutered. The other a little male is old and in poor health. I won't have him neutered.

I don't care how hard I try, my cat gets out of the house all the time. She can open doors, windows, and even with all closed she STILL finds her way out. Her first litter was 9 KITTENS. Frick I am ALL for spaying.

I feel sorry for the animal being neutered. I guess I should feel sorry for any possible puppies or kittens that can't be looked after and have to be put down, but I see this as similar to a doctor killing a patient for organs to transplant into many patients. You can't attain morality by violating the rights of one individual even if more than one benefit. Would you want someone taking away your ability to reproduce without you having any say in the matter?

We need that to curb the population. Not to mention I don't want a bunch of pups and kittens running around the house.

Look this is not a contest! I am sorry you lost a good friend. Do you have data that supports the animal died several years early due to neutering? Have you ever witnessed non-neutered animals fight while when a female is in heat?

Although with most female pets it is advised that they have one littler first I believe...

Not sure if this is true or not - perhaps somebody could help with this one?

Unless your a breeder, it's too your pets benefit to be spayed or neutered, along with health benefits as well, any responsible pet owner should.

It's a necessary evil if you're gonna keep animals as pets.
