Don't worry about me at all. Insurance is not paying and we will deal with it. Put that in your back pocket and run with it for future reference. I paid every premium and paid them timely. Insurance companies are big biz and thieves in this country next to the lenders. Doesn't matter what you thought you had it is what they think they want to give you for your loss. ZERO That fine print you thought you read, well think again. Thanks!

I was in NYC on business during the Hurricane, but was in the 50th/9 street area; no problems.

My prayers go to all who were in harms way and suffering.

How are you dublin, know you lived close to the line?

Salt water will wreak havoc on the truck's electrical/electronics systems.
I wonder if your home's or car's insurance policy will cover the damage on your 2 vehicles!

We are looking into all of that as soon as things settle down and we can sort the crap out. If the insurance companies cover anything that will be a miracle without stress. Deductibles etc..

Your insurance companies will be sending special teams of storm claim appraisers, into your general area, right away.I contact them ASAP....
A lot of times, these storm claims appraisers are authorized to take action on your claims,on the spot.If you wait too long, the claims process may take a lot longer to be resolved!

They are taking all the flooded cars to one place for assessment. That is procedure. Hmmm? We should learn more in a few days. Everything will be OK. I am very fortunate and I have many prayers and thoughts coming my way and it coulda' been much worse. The tree that fell at our other little cottage house could have been devastating. It is OK. The swing set was crushed and that is OK. Just a swing set and it could have fallen on plenty of stuff since the tree has been there for a hundred years or more. :-) See I am still smiling and camping out!

This pic is just the beginning when the surge hit, It went up 3 ' over that 2001 Dakota. Propane tanks were wildly floating spewing gas and one was doing laps around our house and the fumes were entering the house. People's things were just floating by our house and we are really isolated here more than most. Our picnic table in the backyard ended up under a tree in our yard and looked very much like it belonged there when all was said and done.

This is just an example of our world gone wild and inept administration to handle the heat. Truly i have heard story after story and we have been hung out to dry, literally cuz all the FEMA is spent on every other nation except ours.

We have money and courage in this country we have been thrown under the bus. Yes, I can survive this but I fear others who cannot. We are tapped out in this country and we cannot continue on this trail of disaster.BO waits to make a plan for the hopeless and denied and people are really struggling to even get by.

I say shame on him while he lives off the backs of those that voted for him and has given nothing in the way of sacrifice, just a huge flying bus tour which if sacrificed could have fed and housed thousands.

we are managing as our neighbors and friends. It has been really crazy and almost lawless in its own way. We are civilized though. Still waiting for insurance adjustor and that has been annoying. I understand that there are many however when and if my payment were not on time I would hear from them right in a flash

I love what's coming. It will cut the wheat from the chafe so to speak in New York.

We're right in the expected line of the Hurricane in Brooklyn. The people in Coney Island might have problems because it's so very much like the low lying beaches of the Carolinas. They are all native New Yorkers and like the rest of us told Mayor Bloomberg he could go to hell when he literally ordered us to leave areas like this.

Nobody tells a true native New Yorker what to do and they laugh when told that it's against the law to remain. But as to me, we're in Park Slope which is in the direct path of the Hurricane but about 100 feet above sea level. We may lose our electricity and there's an excellent possibility of losing our internet service and cable TV. Personally, I'm more concerned about the safety of the Squirrels, Chipmunks and Raccoons in the wilds of Prospect Park some two blocks away.

For the first time in history, the subways are being shut down as well as our extensive bus service. To us New Yorkers, the subway that I love so much is our mobility. NYC is around 300 square miles with 450 subway stations and 350 miles of track. You can get all over very quickly and easily for only $2.25. Many of us don't even own cars because they are just an annoyance.

Most people who visit New York City just know the business area of Manhattan and the tourist trap restaurants. In point of fact, Manhattan is not representative of New Yorkers. It contains a population of about 1.5 million people out of 8 million in the city itself. The real New York is in places like my Brooklyn, right across the Hudson River and with a population of 2.5 million alone. That's where the real New York is and it will take the biggest hit.

Lower Manhattan might be in trouble and has the financial district. It also has many new co-ops populated in low lying areas by well off liberal out of towners and effete, wealthy leftie natives. These are the ones who strongly support putting up the WTC Victory Mosque while 70% of New Yorkers felt it was tasteless and provocative. Many are running out according to local news, but that's what effete liberals usually do in time of crisis. They could drown for all I care. They're not "real" New York.

Caryl and I are looking forward to this with a sense of excitement. I must admit though, that I don't think I'll enjoy walking our doggie early tomorrow morning when the full force of the hurricane will hit. I don't think our doggie will either. She loves snow but hates rain.

Then again, our doggie is very tough and enjoys danger. She might find things like this exciting. So I'll put on my military hurricane coat, close tie the hood, head into the blinding hurricane face down and tell her "you're in charge" which she understands to mean that she's temporary Pack Leader.

Where I wind up should be a hoot. I don't know where she'll take me but I know she'd never let anything happen to me.
