I guess, kind of. I will usually stay up until 2-4 o'clock on the weekends and then sleep until like 1pm. But on a week day, it will usually take me 30 minutes-2 hours to fall asleep. It kind of just depends on how much is on my mind. But I'm most definitely a night person :)

I don't think it is age, you could have some form of depression yourself. There are days when I don't feel like doing anything either, but do try to go to sleep the same time everyday that helps. Lack of enough sleep can make you feel all kinds of things the longer it goes on.

I'm more of a night owl. I stay up till about 2 or 3 o'clock, but if I need to get up early, I can do it. If I don't have to get up early, I sleep til 10 or 11 o'clock.
I love to sleep when it's raining. There's a small creek beside my house and I like that, too.

It's like this . . . Sometimes I feel like what am I doing in bed . . . ?? I can't sleep, anyway. Then before too long I will fast asleep and not even remember that there was any kind of complaint to myself when I went to bed . . . But I still do not sleep but about 3-hours or so . . . Then I wake up and sleep again . . .

I would love to sleep straight thru the night. Sleep well for first 20-45 minutes then can be up for 1-3 hours and this goes on all night. Then I leave to work out at 7am. Best therapy for sleep that I found is Bikram Yoga. My yoga place started a construction project and not yet done. Only one Bikram in the area would need to travel over an hour to go to another.

All the times you've had questions that don't have an undecided, and you pick THIS one?

    :)

Just wondering how you are undecided about being an insomniac - isn't that one an either-or?

I haven't slept through the night for more than four or five days ("slept through the night" being 5 hours) in 28 years. I slept somewhat more often before that, but was still an insomniac from about 13 on. It really really bites. I realize just how wonderful a real night's sleep is on those very rare occasions that I actually get one.

For those of you who can actually sleep - I both envy you and am desperately happy for you. Sleep on!

Off and on I am, I'll go from not sleeping more than 30 minutes a night for 3 months to sleeping in way late for school daily.

Since I've retired, I get a total of 3 may be 4 hours, if I;m lucky, of sleep per night. I working around the house. I get tired and still can't get several hours of straight sleep. It's one hour, wage up, 45 minutes, wake up. Maybe I should have a drink or two before bed.

It doesn't help (the drink or two, I mean). I've tried everything, including prescription drugs, alcohol, over-the-counter drugs, exercise, changing my diet - the list goes on. You might do better than me, but I learned that alcohol can actually make it worse (not from experience, not much makes it worse in my case, but from things I've read because I'm darn near desperate to get sleep).

It seems like some people are confusing insomnia with being nocturnal. Insomnia is different. At least once a week I'll be unable to sleep for well over 30-something hours straight, and about once every week-and-a-half, I'll have 48 hours of straight wakefulness. Not that I'm not tired; I am. I just can't sleep. If I do, it's not for long. Sometimes I worry that if I don't do something, I'll die of a heart attack. I'm a single father of a 4-year-old too, so sometimes I can't even sleep when it finally feels like the time is right, because my son depends on me to make sure he's at least well nourished and hydrated, etc. Fun stuff.

I keep wondering if the reason I can't sleep at night is because I AM nocturnal and have screwed up my internal clock. I haven't slept through the night more than a few times in 28 years. I feel for you, because I have four children, and when I actually CAN sleep I CAN'T...

It's because I'm a night time person by nature. It goes against how I'm wired.
