How can you save when you are "stimulated" out of a good job and after nearly 900 days latch on to the first job you can get that pays less than half of their previous pay. Many are still smarting from the "Stimulus" over 1200 days later as Obamacare puts another blanket on the job market. God bless those who can claim some financial savings with food and oil prices climbing. Others are exhausted job seekers who can't wait to get some honest, earned dollars in their hands that they can save!

    I am both!

As I get older, I switch..

20 to 30 I spent like CRAZY, and didn't save crap.
30 to 40 I put away some money for emergencies
40 to 50 I started putting a solid amount in my 401, but still buy what I want, when I want.
50+ I put more on my 401, invest in stocks, and rental properties. building my retirement fund. BUT: I have my toys, and I plan on buying a new car next year. I bought a new Gold Wing last year. So I am still spending - but I do it more carefully.

As I'm getting older, I tend to save more though.

Unfortunately, I had gotten use to having appropriate funds on a weekly basis, so I spent freely. Now, I find myself in a whole new situation as i try to adapt to living better on less. Retirement is not like getting that weekly paycheck.

My problem is, I don't care for money much - it's useless and not a good way of showing you have money. What I care about is the things I can buy with the money, which means that if I have money I tend to spend it on things that will improve my life, because money can't make me feel good or make my life easier, but a new computer or a maid could...

We save but we aren't what you'd call frugal (read that cheap..lol) when we spend, the wife and I like to have a good time or enjoy some of the spoils that come with hard work and the resulting rewards it brings!

I try to evaluate need vs want and dollar amount into a equation before I buy something.
