I smoked for 43 years, wasted about $39,000 in cigarettes, and abused my body. I was not interested in quitting until my dad ended up in the hospital with a brain aneurysm caused from smoking, he was only 59. He had to retire and never was the same. I still did not quit and one day was just raking leaves in my backyard and got out of breath. I had enough, and quit a couple of weeks later. That was six years ago and the first year was the toughest. Now I don't miss them at all and feel real good. Keep in mind you are smoking something with over 9,000 different chemicals in them, I was lucky but many are not.

Yeah, and I love it. Over the next year I'm hoping to get a job that can pay enough for me to increase my addiction to the point where I'm a chain smoker - at least 3 packs per day. One day I'll marry a chain smoker, and we'll have a nice smokey family.
Cigarettes own me, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

i smoke. i'd quit but i love it. my question is how many chemicals are in a big mac? or in the air? or is it possible some of the things found in rat poison are also found in drinking water? i'm assuming hydrogen is in both. how do they get their statistics? every smoker who dies ever is killed because of smoking? am i the only one asking these questions? i just don't get why it's ok to eat and unhealthy diet but if you are a smoker then ur dumb as ass. i smoke yes. but i'm pretty damn healthy. i will smoke now. the post made me think of it and my choice will make me do it. yes, i will have two.

and, if i take years off my life, they are the worst years. every cigarette increases my quality of life when looked at from a long-term perspective. what's better: waiting to die, or dying to live. as a smoker, I AM DYING TO LIVE.

But I never force my habit onto anyone else. And I've never killed anyone or been busted from smoking too much.

Sorry, used to but I quit 9 years ago. Glad I did...went to a hypnotist and was done in one session. Wanted to smoke twice since then, but was able to self talk my way through it and I didn't become an a hole, didn't want to eat everything in sight, and it was as if someone just turned off a switch in me.. Glad I quit.. I see what people pay now and wonder just why people don't make a more concerned effort, but it's their life.. I just know it worked for me..

Good gravy, no! My mother's death was related to her smoking and after seeing how she died so abruptly, I never would and didn't beforehand in spite of having two parents that were heavy smokers.
