Yes, I'm a control freak because I can keep things running smoothly so that everything is calm and everyone around me is comfortable, has everything they need and are as pampered as I can make them. Yes, I'm one of "them" who make sure your fav drink's in the fridge, your clothes are clean (most times the day after you wear them) and that everyone's belly's are full. When everyone's happy and things are calm, I'm happy and calm. *she shrugs*

Not really . I think it just makes things run a little smother if people around me are moving in the direction I am. Let me use this example , I don't like smoking. My wife smoked when we met, I used suggestion to make her quit. It took a little time but she eventually quit. She had a few set backs, she called failures, but, I explained they were not failures ,just set backs and she could overcome a set back. Sha thought she quit for herself. She quit because of me. We both win.

I'm am most certainly not a control freak. However, my wife is. I knew this going in to the marriage and honestly, it's just one of those things I love about her. It's a good balance.

In fairness, I will say that voting libertarian doesn't necessarily mean a person won't act like a control freak -- but at least they aren't extending whatever controlling tendencies they have to their political views by trying to have government control people and tell them how to live.

LOL, I was merely trying to point out how people react to words. It is one of those events in life that stick with you. When I was in college a professor called me out on using aggressive instead of assertive.

And the more I ague this point, the more I come off as a control freak. LOL

I agree, but I do also believe that mental illness is a matter of degree. None of our brains are wired perfectly. We call the people whose wiring is obviously off in major ways "mentally ill", but really it's just that various types of irrationality or anti-social tendencies are more pronounced and noticeable in some people than others.

Control freaks (or narcissists), are often worried about being in control of others, simply because they have not the ability to control self, and no idea how. So instead, they become self ingratiating and boast of their wisdom's to others. This is nothing more than ego, driven by pride.
Yes, I am a control freak. Actually, is better to say that I am a self control freak. I don't care about others control ( unless your driving anywhere near me), just my own. I have always believed that self control is the key to productivity, knowledge and ultimately peace.
I am reminded of an old saying...
Learn to control those things that you are responsible for. learn to let go of those things you do not control, and come to know the difference.....Just a thought...

Well, the ones who are freaky about self control, no, they are not. However, those who wish to control others, are motivated by ego, pride, and an over reactive sense of self importance. This by the way, is the definition of narcissism....Just a thought...
