When Thomas Toth contracted pneumonia, he became inseparable from the cool, stylish Don Draper. Toth watched all five seasons of the AMC series "Mad Men" from his sickbed in a two-week viewing binge . He became so captivated by its fictional admen that he began sporting skinny ties and drinking Old-Fashioned cocktails.

"The nuances of the story lines are getting so complicated — they're introducing characters in Episode 2 and that character comes back in Episode 6 — I can digest things a lot quicker and easier when I binge on them," the 44-year-old Denver resident said.

Toth has lots of company. Services such as Netflix and Hulu, as well as digital video recorders, have transformed the TV viewing experience by enabling viewers to devour multiple episodes or even entire seasons of "The Wire" or "Downton Abbey" in marathon viewing sessions.

I probabaly watch one hour of tv a month. Nothing on worth watching! Those 'reality shows' are about as real as werewolves, and the so called comedy is noting but filth and stupidity.

Love sites like those. They enable me to catch up on episodes of shows that I've missed and also enable me to view shows that I've wanted to but for one reason or another have not.

That way when you buy a box set, you make sure all the DVDs are good before the return period expires.

I binge view shows that are worth binge-viewing:
    The Sopranos
    Mad Men
    Deadwood
    The Wire
    Rome
    Boardwalk Empire

What else are you gonna do when you're sick in bed? It's a lot more fun binge-viewing the shorter shows, like Rome or Deadwood, since they didn't put out many seasons. But binge-viewing the Sopranos is not for the faint of heart =P

It's fun to re-watch favorites, catch shows I missed and all with limited or (better yet) NO commercials.

Yes (blush), I am. I've always enjoyed the occasional splurge on series that I really like and watch them overandover. With Netflix, its even worse, as I can find a lot of costumey cable and BBC series unavailable in our area (not served by cable and geograpically unsuited to cable reception. Video orgy!

Well, I used to be . . . But now the Marathons that long-ago had The Twilight Zone, One Step Beyond, and The Naked City, have all been replaced with stupid stuff such as Roseanne Barr. So, now I usually watch the Cooking Shows because my wife watches them . . . .

Heretofore on Netflix, I watched as many Breaking Bad shows (and their commentaries) back to back, as I could muster and still keep my job ...
Now with broadcast basic cable (ANY cable for the first time in well over a decade), not so much. Turned me into a better worker, but also now a news junkie ... something I wished I could have become decades ago ...
