'Beer goggles' fool women the most: Scientists discover why people are more attractive after a few drinks

It is a phenomenon most often associated with the more than mildly inebriated male.

But it seems that it is in fact women who are more likely to be fooled by their ‘beer goggles’.

Scientists have worked out why members of the opposite sex can seem more attractive after a few drinks – and they found that women’s judgement was more greatly clouded by alcohol.

Here is my opinion: if women or men WANT to be with a stranger, they pretty much make up their minds before they get drunk. Some drink specifically so they can have an excuse to act irrationally.

I'm definitely in the minority, I never had a one night stand so I'm in no way an 'expert' on the subject but I think a lot of the results depend on which area is involved in the study. Different countries, different regions act differently.

Nah I've seen women MORE on guard after drinks. Add to that their herd of friends pulling at them to cblock you. Out of my one night stand experiences, I have NEVER been so drunk that I had to regret who I slept with--even if I had spins, throwing up etc. alcohol is an enabler, but it should never be the excuse IMO.

No, but they are VERY susceptible to beer ears.....women, in my experience, would sleep with a wookie if he made them laugh or said things they like to hear. So, no, a man doesn't become more attractive looking (thus goggles), but he will become more funny (like everything else) when a lady has too many drinks. Also, opinionated women are more likely to agree with opinions that are slightly off from their own. Believe me, sometimes I can agree with a woman, but she still thinks I am at odds with her. After a few drinks, she will be more personable, and let her gaurd down.

If I am not attracted to someone sober, I definitely will not be attracted to them drunk. People don't lose their minds when they're drunk, they just lose their inhibitions. .So I don't believe in people suffering from 'beer goggles', they're simply revealing their true standards that they hide when they are sober..

I voted yes to comment. After a suffient number of drinks, both men and women are equally susceptible to beer goggles. If the man or woman who is trying to put the hit on you still looks ugly after the beer gogles have kicked in, get a large paper bag and put it over his/her head. You will not remember in the morning.

I have worked in a bar. The answer is yes and no. A lot of times though in my experience the woman's guard is up when she is intoxicated. But it depends on the woman. If she was already slutty before she started drinking then yes. It's not just the alcohol. You can't blame the alcohol!

Sadly women who are heavy drinkers at bars are generally the most susceptible to sweet talk . They are already lonely and needing to prove they are still "hot". When no one bites they start feeling worse, therefore at closing time when they get an offer, they mistakenly take that offer for romantic feelings. The need to be "cherished" overcomes any judgement they might've had. The booze makes it much easier. I think that women who are secure and happy in relationships with a partner that cherishes him are usually not out at bars alone getting drunk. Just an observation.

I was at a bar with my bestie.She was really drunk, dancing and making out with a toothless critter.She wanted to go home with him.Needless to say I had to play Cock Blocker that night. Could be because women produce less Alcohol Dehydrogenase (ADH), an alcohol decomposing enzyme, than men....... making them greater victims of its negative effects. In other countries, frequent wine drinking enhances resistance to alcoholic drinks.

Beer goggles are equal opportunity. Doesn't matter your sex, gender, race, color or creed - you drink enough and a 1 looks like a 10. Only reason people MAY think this is worse for women is because many of them (the majority of the ones I know) don't drink low-alcohol things like beer and stick to liquor. That, and in my experience women regret sleeping with an ugly person more than men do. Guys kinda take it in stride.

LOL! great song, perfect for this situation. I think lots of people hook up, and blame it on being drunk but in most cases if they are able to hump, they aren't too drunk.
