Ladies, do you find yourself attracted to the same jerky guys again and again and again? It might not be your fault -- well, at least at certain times of the month. A new study found that when a woman is ovulating, she chooses "ravishing dudes over responsible ones -- even when evaluating them as long-term partners," How About We reports.

"Previous research has shown in the week near ovulation women become attracted to sexy, rebellious and handsome men like George Clooney or James Bond," study researcher Kristina Durante of the University of Texas at San Antonio says in a statement.

But what's new about this study is it explains why women want to pursue long-term relationships with these kinds of men around that time of month. Turns out, when a woman is ovulating, her hormones cause her to think your typical jerk is going to be a wonderful, caring, helpful father, LiveScience reports.

"Under the hormonal influence of ovulation, women delude themselves into thinking that the sexy bad boys will become devoted partners and better dads," Durante says. Why? "Missing a mating opportunity with a sexy cad might be too costly for some women to pass up," she explains. Do you think women are more attracted to jerks in general?

It's seems silly, but admittedly it always happens. Normally the jerks are only jerks because they are attractive enough to get away with it. And yes, I'm attracted to that kind of person, guy or girl actually. But, I wouldn't stay with them. Yeah, it can be exciting to be with them, but in the long run, I normally find their personality disgusting and break it off. For a long term relationship, I occasionally go for the nerds. I find them extremely fun to be around, and I wouldn't pass up a smart guy for anything.

Women are usually attracted to self-confident men and jerks are usually self-confident. Is it even possible to be really self-confident without being a little bit self-centered? Because if you really love yourself, you want to do things that please YOU. That might make you seem like a jerk sometimes.

Actually, I think women are just more attracted to the good looks of jerks, and the jerkish personality is just something they put up with. Women would rather have a jerk who's attractive than a nice guy who's unattractive.

Often, until they grow up. Or, gain wisdom, and experience. Of course, negative characteristics, are not the exclusive domain of the male sex.

As a man who has been both the nice and the other... Knowledge of a woman's cycle, is a useful tool. The female animal, experiences "Heat" and sends signals, on many levels, both subtle, and not so subtle. Physical changes. Subconscious mating scents, all contribute to a females allure, and desire for an Alpha male, to protect her and her offspring. Since, most prime males, are generally, more interested in the pleasure of mating, other than the responsibility of the aftermath, we are viewed as jurks. Of course, you can change us, as no one else could. *Smile* Powerful, subliminal compulsions.

Yes, but I would say more so when they are younger. Bad boys are exciting, virile, unpredictable, usually very enthusiastic and adventurous about everything including sex. It's a turn on....for a while. As you get a little more mature women look for not only fun but stability, a hard worker, a friend, someone you could see yourself being with forever. So it depends what age woman you're talking about.

I believe I did say "when they are younger". Hopefully, they mature and realize that they don't want "bad boys". They want a mature, levelheaded man, when they marry, not a boy.

Young women are idealistic and often attracted to jerks. This is a good reason why women should not marry till they are at least in their late 20's or early 30's. At this time of life they begin to develop perspective. Take it from someone who married young and repented later. We always think they we can change them with just some love. What a joke. You should see the mess my step daughter is in.with her marriage to the laziest man alive, also the creepiest.
