Not all that difficult. Just try not to follow the Chinese-English translation (if it was made in China, of course), you'll only get confused...

You have to be able to hold your hands over your head for extended periods.

Only if they are running while you are trying to install them...

OR... if the ceiling is 37 feet high, and you only have a wobbly ladder.

sometimes Lowes or Home Depot have HOW-TO clinics on different things...fans are easy, but you have to triple check you turned the power off to that circuit at the circuit box!!
call your localstores and ask about the clinics.. and most places have handymen in the pennysaver will do small jobs like that for peanuts

I've never installed one but directions on everything that needs to be assembled or installed are difficult to understand for me. But then I'm probably the most directional impaired person on the planet-

Just make sure you allow for the weight of the fan...you might talk to someone at a hardware store...many instructions are written overseas....(they can be somewhat lacking)

It's easy. I'll just give you a couple of tips.

First, shut off the power to the light socket. I reccomend shutting off the breaker.

You take the existing lamp off so you only have a couple of wires coming out of the box in the ceiling, one black one white and one bare wire screwed to the inside of the box. You may find two sets of wires, that means another light is being powered off this one. The important thing to remember is to keep both blacks together and both whites together Be careful with the wires, don't pull on them or bend them any more than you absoluely have to.

The instructions will probably tell you to mount the base first. It will screw into the light box in the ceiling. If it's like my fan, once the base is installed you won't have much access to the inside of the electical box so you don't want to have the wires in the box all bunched up in there, straighten them out a bit so they protrude out of the box before installing the base.Screw the base on to the box but make sure the wires are routed safely and no wires are getting pinched before you tighten it up.

Next you hang the fan motor. There will probably be a way that you can hang the motor on the mount so it's there but not covering the box. Once the electrical connections are done, You will be able t...

Next you hang the fan motor. There will probably be a way that you can hang the motor on the mount so it's there but not covering the box. Once the electrical connections are done, You will be able to kind of hinge it up into place and install the mounting screws.

There are 3 wires, black, white and green. Black and white are power, hook black to black, white to white, green attaches to the metal box in the ceiling. The ends of the wires should be bared about a half inch, maybe a little more. Hold the wires to be joined paralell to each other with the bared sections even and use pliers to gently twist the wires together in a clockwise direction. Once they have a few twists, twist a marette (little plastic cap) onto the bare ends of the wires, twist it clockwise until it locks. Gently tuck the connections into the box, being careful not to loosen them.

You then hinge the motor into place and install the screws that mount it to the base. Again, make sure no wires are pinched or dragging on the rotating part of the fan motor.

That's the hard part, the rest is just a few screws. Good luck!

Ceiling fans are very easy to install. I can put one up in 10 or 15 minutes and that's taking my time.

Not really. But, if you have never done it, it can be a little overwhelming.

One thing to make sure of is that the electrical box you are installing the fan onto can support the weight. Usually that means a metal box nailed or screwed to a bracket or wood backing above the ceiling. SOME plastic boxes are adequate but they are also specially made for the extra weight of a ceiling fan.

If it is a ceiling fan with a light they do have different wiring configurations depending on switches and whether your new unit has a remote control switch.

And yes... make sure the electricity is off!

If you can read and have common sense you can instal one. Liberals may want to consult with someone with common sense before trying to install one of these.

Oh now... don't most politicians think their constituents are? I mean most promise the world until they're in. Then it is like, "how can I dance around enough to stay here". Do you know of any that tell the truth and do what they said they were going to do 100%?

I put up two, 6 years ago; we got from Target's and they have been a blessing. You need a screw driver, pliers or visegrips, possibly a wrench or two, some patience and a little common sense. I don't think the units even had written instructions - everything about assembly and installation was explained in numbered pictures. If you're really nervous, though, I doubt a reasonable electrician would charge too much.

No I installed four of them in my house. It is easy if you are removing and existing light fixture in the ceiling as the utility box will be on the roof stud and wiring already there. It should take two to install as the wires on the fan are fairly short as well as someone holding it as you attache mounting bracket. Turn off circuit to that light first thing. Instructions are pretty straight forward.

I've done it so many times I could do it with my eyes closed. If you're new at it, make sure you turn the electricity in that room completely off before you start. Don't turn the switches off, turn the ELECTRICITY off in that room. Go slow and double-check everything. It won't ruin it to do it wrong and have to unhook everything, but it will be annoying.

The light switch doesn't really matter as long as there's no electricity running to the wires you'll be working with.
