Designer Dominic Wilcox was commissioned by the Global Footprint project to create shoes, so he decided to create footwear with a built-in GPS that will take you anywhere you want to go. All you need -- besides the shoes -- is a USB cable and an address.

Maps can be uploaded to the shoe's heel and after clicking your heels together (a la Dorothy in "The Wizard of Oz") lights on your left shoe show you which way to turn while lights on your right shoe map your progress. Try and top that, Siri! Wilcox's shoes are fully functioning and nicely designed, but are you a fan of the idea to begin with?

If you have to use Hi-tech shoes to find your way, why do you need to get somewhere? You're brain dead. The common man and woman should be trying to use their minds more, not less. Other wise the only people worth life will be designers and engineers. Don't let them create products that make you worthless.

If everyone is even more intent at looking down at their feet than they already are, even more people will miss out on the beauty that is all around them...

I worked for 8 years at a Texas University, always out and about on campus, and the students were wearing MP3 player headphones and staring down at their cell phones, texting... and I don't know how many times I've seen them damned near get run over because they're just not paying attention and are oblivious to the world around them and what's happening around them...

Why would I want to stare at my feet for directions, instead of looking at the map on my phone and listening to the voice prompts? How long before someone wearing these runs headlong into a wall, down some stairs, or in front of a bus because they're looking straight down instead of watching where they are going?

I'd like the kind of shoes that track location for parents afraid of their child being lost or nabbed and for senior citizens that get lost. Not all people can carry a cell phone with a locator. It would be a wonderful thing if they were cheap enough for use by all. Maybe the GPS shoes would locate my car in a big parking lot! LOL

now Too bad Fergie add "Other" as a choice. GPS shoes can do what Richard Reid (Same spelling as our destructive Harry Reid) failed to do in 2002 when he tried to blow up a plane on its way to the US. Someone can aim a missle at those shoes of the next show bomber. Turning your shoes OFF in order to travel by plane, ship, train or car? Makes as much sense as a GPS bar of soap!
