There's not enough time in the day for relaxing. They say "there's no rest for the wicked", so why should I rest? I have a life to live and things to do! I'll use my evenings for resting, since it's the only time I really calm down enough to rest.
I must also say, religiously speaking many believe it's the day of rest in accordance to those who are Christian or Catholic according to their Bible. I, myself, am Polytheistic, but since my religion teaches about the circle, it is what I believe. Like the circle of life, everything continues and never stops. If the circle never stops, why should I?
Mon - Fri is work/school. Saturday is fun and sunday is rest! except I usually have to go to CCD class at my church for like 2 hours most sundays, ugh, it sucks, I mean didn't God rest on the 7th day!?
No, Saturdays are reserved for the Lord, Sunday is the first day of the week not the 7th, no matter what your church leader may tell you, you are not keeping the sabbath, which runs friday sun set to saturday sun set, if you worship on Sunday.
I'm not Jewish, I'm not 7th Day Adventist, I am a believer in Jesus Christ as my Savior and I can debate the New Testament change from Last Day of the week to First Day of the week until Jesus comes. The Law was fulfilled in Christ. I do not observe the Sabbath to keep the Law; I go to church on Sunday to celebrate the Resurrection of Christ which took place on the first day of the week - what we call Sunday. If you want to worship on Saturday - you can do that - I really don't necessarily believe that in this New Testament era, that the Lord is going to split hairs on that matter. We are no longer living under the Law and my salvation, forgiveness, justification, and eternal destiny (or yours) have nothing to do with that. The point is that I give as much of the day (Sunday) to the Lord to serve Him and I do not use it for my own amusement. It is not that I do not do anything but sit around on Sunday, I go to church in the morning and in the evening; I do not plan to do other things on Sunday that keep me from going to church, and I manage my day around going to church. That is the priority for that day every week, 52 weeks a year now for over 37 years of my life. By God's grace, it will continue to be.
We are no longer living under the law? So its ok to put other gods before the one true God, and its ok to worship idols and murder and use the lords name in vain and dishonor your parents and adultery is ok now and stealing is ok too? No. None of the laws have been removed. NONE. I think you better wake up and spell the deceit my friend. That is why Jesus said the WHOLE WORLD will be deceived. You keep looking for the anti-Christ thinking he will be so easy to pick out but you, just like everyone else, have been deceived. And as for your belief that God doesn't split hairs, have you not read the bible? He killed a man because he reached out and touched the arch of the covenant to keep it from falling. You really need to wake up my friend. As the saying goes The Lord Thy God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. He has not changed and he sure hasn't changed his laws. If he did, than that would make him a hypocrite and not worthy of worship.
Do you honestly think that, after reading the New Testament, it is teaching that your salvation is based upon what day you go to church? I love the Lord my God with all of my heart, soul, and mind, and I love my neighbor as myself - (by God's grace, I yield to the Holy Spirit to enable me to do that - although I faulter miserably when dealing with liberals) - in doing that, I have fulfilled all the Law and the Prophets. The Laws have not been removed - however, the keeping of them does not save us - we are saved by trusting the shed blood of Christ as the atonement for our sins. We are not saved by keeping the Sabbath, sacrificing animals, sprinkling blood on the mercy seat by a priest or by keeping any or all of the Ten Commandments. You really do not know what you're talking about.
lol, no one said we are saved by the law, but we are to keep the laws. BIG DIFFERENCE. So you mean to tell me that We can worship another god and put that god above the One true God and its fine? REALLY? Oh how deceived you have been. Good luck with that.
Of course, we should keep the law. I believe that every born again believer will be led by the Holy Spirit to do that. But, there is legitimate New Testament validation for the idea of worshipping on the first day of the week. Because I believe that, you make the leap that I am serving or believe in "another god." That's ludicrous. I trusted Christ as my Savior over 35 years ago. I am far from being all that I should be but, I know the Spirit of Christ is in me and I seek to walk with the Lord every day. Christ would not have us make one "Law" about the proper day of worship the determining factor as to whether or not we are serving or believing correctly. You need to understand the principle of "grace." I won't find fault with you if, after a diligent study of the Word, you determine that Saturday is the proper day of rest. I will find fault with you if you determine that, if I don't see it that way, that I am not one of His because of it. I am not saved by what I do; I am saved by what He did for me.
I understand the principle of grace but grace did not nor would it dismiss God's law. Jesus himself kept the law. As for your belief that the New Testament voids the law is crazy it has not and there is not one word in the New Testament that you can point to that proves otherwise. If so PROVE IT. And I never said anything about you not being HIS, that is for him to decide. And let me remind you...Faith without works is dead.
As I said somewhere on SodaHead the other day, since I lost my job, EVERY DAY is a Saturday or Sunday. However, when I was working, Sunday was definitely set aside for relaxing and rebuilding my energies for the coming week. My family has always been avid churchgoers, so when I was younger, we spent the morning at church and afternoons with my grandparents for Sunday dinner. (Does anybody even DO that these days?) I don't go to Mass as often as I should. Nowadays, I'm usually at "St. Tempurpedic" or "Our Lady Of Stearns And Foster" on Sunday morning. [haha]
if one has off over the weekend he or she also should use the time for relaxing. the bible was alright, work six days and relax one day. we changed that to five day work and two days free. it does not have to be Sunday but we have to relax some time. people who work on Sunday have to relax another day. this is just biology!
Not exactly. Initially Sunday was reserved for family day. Individual families spent time together, whether they went to church, on family picnics, or had dinner together in their homes, because husbands were out working all week while mothers stayed home and raised the children and/or manage their homes. Of course much has changed over the years.
Sunday, to me, feels so different than any other day of the week. It does seem more relaxed, even when I use to work on Sunday.
I must also say, religiously speaking many believe it's the day of rest in accordance to those who are Christian or Catholic according to their Bible. I, myself, am Polytheistic, but since my religion teaches about the circle, it is what I believe. Like the circle of life, everything continues and never stops.
