In light of the unraveling of Arnold Schwarzenegger's scandalous affair, there's been a lot of talk about the propensity of powerful and successful men to cheat on their spouses, whether it be for the thrill or simply because they can.

But what about women?

AOL suggests that they're just as likely to do the same.

Joris Lammers, a professor from Tilburg University in the Netherlands, studied answers to an anonymous questionnaire given to more than 1,500 business magazine readers ranging from top execs to the clerks in the mailroom.

Respondents were asked about their thoughts on power, how confident they were about their own status at work and how willing they were to take risks.

Lammers' study found that women in higher positions were, in fact, as likely to cheat as men.

Research conducted by Illicit Encounters, a website designed to aid adulterers, suggests that women may be even more likely to seek out alternative partners.

because men are men, he has the natural respond to sexy women, he can control his desire,but women are not as strong as men in terms of desire sex , maybe we should examine ourselves, in the Bible, there are 7 deadly sins: pride,envy,greed,angry,sloth,... esp lust.

Actually it was not an option but I believe ANYONE is capable of cheating regardless of sex. It all depends on their level of honesty and commitment.

Because there is a double standard, especially in the "power world," I feel women are less likely to cheat than men are. A powerful man is almost expected to have an affair or two; affairs are like "attaboys," testaments to their success. Women, on the other hand, are looked upon with great disdain for being sexual at all, much less outside of her marriage.

Women cheat too, but not nearly as much as men do.

Not even sure if power has that much to do with it. Ego yes, but anyone can have that... not only movie stars.

I think men cheat more for entertainment and a "quick fix", while women may cheat more to be vindictive and get back at their husband in some way.

No matter... either your a devoted honest spouse who actually cares more about the person you married than yourself. Or your not. That's what it boils down to.

It has nothing to do with "Power" . . . The power has something to do with the media coverage. You don't hear about common everyday people having an affair because no one is interested in it; however, if a Congressman does something outside of his own bedroom then naturally it's going to be on the 6 o'clock news tonight.

Hell, it doesn't matter if a woman is a CEO of a Fortune 500 company, or if another is a clerk in the mail room -- A cheater is a cheater is a cheater. I don't think that "power" per se indicates whether or not a woman will cheat. I think that female executives spend a lot more time away from home, working long hours and traveling. That in itself would make it easier for them to get a little strange in on the side. I do think that women are just as likely to cheat as men, no matter what type of work they do. Let's fact it. Sometimes females are more cruel and vicious than their male counterparts.

We went thru this a week or two ago about powerful men; rich men. same thing applies here. There is an attraction to power and money, and women now have it and are sharing in its 'reward'. Women are drinking more these days, having health problems generally associated with men, and having affairs out of marriage, and other social issues. As Walter Cronkite used to say, "thats the way it is".
End of story.

In my experience, women cheat as much as men. Perhaps that was not always true, but they have equal opportunity in everything now. And that includes cheating. I learned this the hard way.

If a woman has a huge responsibility and people look up to her for her leadership. she'll most rarely not cheat because the emotional damage can cause instability to her important duty. Women like to be successful, it's something they tried for centuries to break the gender barrier of work.so sisters are doing it for themselves. women are the weaker sex so they won't do anything to take away from their rank and rule.
