In light of the unraveling of Arnold Schwarzenegger's scandalous affair, there's been a lot of talk about the propensity of powerful and successful men to cheat on their spouses, whether it be for the thrill or simply because they can.

But what about women?

AOL suggests that they're just as likely to do the same.

Joris Lammers, a professor from Tilburg University in the Netherlands, studied answers to an anonymous questionnaire given to more than 1,500 business magazine readers ranging from top execs to the clerks in the mailroom.

Respondents were asked about their thoughts on power, how confident they were about their own status at work and how willing they were to take risks.

Lammers' study found that women in higher positions were, in fact, as likely to cheat as men.

Research conducted by Illicit Encounters, a website designed to aid adulterers, suggests that women may be even more likely to seek out alternative partners.

It can go either way. I say this because women are going to want someone who is just as successful as them. And some men see females to be below them.

Powerful women might be just as inclined, but there aren't nearly as many powerful women to do so. In fact, I would say that powerful women who marry "below themselves" are more likely to cheat than their less successful counterparts who marry "above." If a woman doesn't respect the man she's with, she's more likely to cheat on him, and be unsatisfied in the relationship. This is a "more often than not" thing, not an "always" thing.

I knew of three supervisors who were all having an affair with The Same Man! And he, like Mildred Baena, was just not that great-looking, was a married man with grown children, and a good listener. Apparently, the individual female supervisors were not aware of each others involvement with the same man.

People in power like to multitask. Also haven't you ever seen some of their offices. they have huge desks. Most of those desks have really big spaces underneath, and large tops.

Men and women both cheat. A man can't cheat unless there is someone to do the cheating with, unless he happens to be gay. But in my time on earth it's been pretty certain that for every man that cheats there has to be a women involved.

Power has nothing to do with cheating, whether you are a man or a woman. A lack of family values and morals leads to cheating. A disregard for the wedding vows leads to cheating.

If you are unhappy in your marriage, find out why and fix it. If you can't fix it, get out of it. Then find someone else to have a relationship with. There is no reason nor acceptable excuse for being an adulterer.

Cheating isn't a male thing. Now, women may cheat for different reasons & theirs may be more of an emotional affair than a physical one. However, I think the emotive affair is more dangerous to any marriage than a purely physical one.

Just as likely, having been around and supervised women... this has been my observation; when they do cheat women are more likely to build up resources and "fence-sit" deftly managing two or more relationships at once until she decides when to end something... unless something out of the blue bursts her bubble.
