I rather think it is selfish to have kids. Some people continually want to clone themselves and think kids are the solution to problems and key to happiness or are needed to complete them. Those people are truly screwed up.

Not at all. Some do not want the responsibilities.

no it isn't selfish it is responsible. Better to not have them if you don't want them than to have them and not want them.

no. They do not want kids. It is rather black and white to think that.

Why would you want to put more people through this miserable world anyway?

I don't think it's selfish. It all depends on the persons priorities and what they want in life.

NO. And in my case I'll tell you why. Between both sides of my family we have a rotten genetic history. At least 5 people between both sides of our family were born with mental retardation, all close relatives, not to mention many of them have learning disabilities. It skips a generation on my mother's side. My mother's brother is mentally retarded, and one of my mother's father's brothers was mentally retarded. Another one of my mother's uncles had mild retardation too. That's why my sister and I elected not to have them. Even without the genetic history being bad, it's nobody's business who has children and who decides not to. Being a parent is not for everybody. And what makes me REALLY mad is the fact that some churches don't allow birth control. So at 47 if I give birth to a Down Syndrome or other type of child with mental and physical difficulties, those churches would require me to have those children. Sure, THEY don't have to take care of a child like that. Thank God I'm in a religion which birth control would never be a problem.
