Are Mustaches Good for You?

You!

Things that are good for you: fruits, vegetables... and mustaches? Researchers at “Radiation Protection Dosimetry” found that facial hair actually provides protection from the sun’s harmful UV rays. The journal, which focuses on measuring the amount of radiation people absorb, also found that longer mustaches provide more protection than shorter ones. The same goes for beards, of course.

And ladies: you're not excluded in all the (healthy) fun. Separate research has also found that the hair on your head also protects you from the sun -- especially if it's long.

WASHINGTONPOST.COM reports:

Hipster men of the world, rejoice: Those ridiculous mustaches you have been growing are more than a fashion statement.

The females in my family say I look better with one. I think it helps to cover up some of the ugly.

A little hair on the upper lip isn't going to make much difference as to sun exposure.
Besides, there is something refreshing about a clean shaven confident man.
Is it that "All American" look? Indeed, yes!

Pretty lame argument to advocate for an even lamer look. So the hairier a person is, the more sun protection s/he gets? God loves the yeti and hates those with alopeca? What about vitamin D? Pleeeease, men, don't be tempted to adopt the 70s porn-star look just to save a few square centimeters from sun damage. Stay out of the sun if you're worried about the skin above your lips.

Some would say - - Hair is part of a divine invention. God meant for you to have hair there, or he would not have put it there!

So - all those girls who are shaving their underarms, legs and what-have-you.... Shame on you for going against the divine!

"So - all those girls who are shaving their underarms, legs and what-have-you.... Shame on you for going against the divine!"

If you read what he said, he wasn't just talking about mustaches, but overall body hair and if God put it there it is natural and not to be shaven. I was disagreeing with him by posting that pic of howI think it's okay to shave. I was speaking with him specifically about something other than facial hair. Okay?

Ok so say if a girl with a mono-brow wanted to shave it off that would be against Gods will?

The mustache keeps the boogers off the upper lip, and beard keeps soups and sauces off the shirt. That's a win-win, in my book!

It depends on the guy. Some men are capable of growing truly epic facial floof. Others should be led away by kind people to a bathroom and handed a razor. That being said, guys, if you have facial hair, keep it well groomed please. Scraggly neck beards are not sexy on anyone but Bigfoot!
