Are Mustaches Good for You?

You!

Things that are good for you: fruits, vegetables... and mustaches? Researchers at “Radiation Protection Dosimetry” found that facial hair actually provides protection from the sun’s harmful UV rays. The journal, which focuses on measuring the amount of radiation people absorb, also found that longer mustaches provide more protection than shorter ones. The same goes for beards, of course.

And ladies: you're not excluded in all the (healthy) fun. Separate research has also found that the hair on your head also protects you from the sun -- especially if it's long.

WASHINGTONPOST.COM reports:

Hipster men of the world, rejoice: Those ridiculous mustaches you have been growing are more than a fashion statement.

apparently they are.... what gets me is that they actually had to spend money and research that fact... truly all they really had to do was ask a bald person.... my husband shaves his head and if not careful in the sun, can get burned bad... they should do a study on the correlation between book learned intelligence and the lack of common sense.......

They do protect you from the suns rays. All you have to do is look at the skin on some guy that is balding to see the difference in the skin of the face and the skin that was protected for years.

They get food in them with bacteria, bad! They also make your upper lip like a thin line, like there's no upper lip you can see when they shave it off. My hubby has one and when he shaved it off once his lip was gone where he use to have a nice soft fuller upper lip. I miss kissing that. : ( men with a mustach

Thats cause we tend to suck the upper lip in when we have a stash. Better to protect the lower from sun burn.

Whoa! How do I get in on this racket?

Research has found that a mustache stops UV? Wait, wait... here's one... Research has found that umbrellas stop rain from splashing your doo. Or how about, Research has found that food satisfies hunger.

Best part of men's facial is that it can cover a flaw like a severe underbite or even a slightly asymmetric face.

Of course. Well maintained facial hair from full shovel to handlebar to goatee is a means of expressing style, mood and cultivating an impressive self-expression. They also keep your face warm and apparently, now, prevent skin cancer.
