Are Mustaches Good for You?

AdriHead 2012/08/06 18:31:12
You!
Add Photos & Videos
Things that are good for you: fruits, vegetables... and mustaches? Researchers at “Radiation Protection Dosimetry” found that facial hair actually provides protection from the sun’s harmful UV rays. The journal, which focuses on measuring the amount of radiation people absorb, also found that longer mustaches provide more protection than shorter ones. The same goes for beards, of course.

And ladies: you're not excluded in all the (healthy) fun. Separate research has also found that the hair on your head also protects you from the sun -- especially if it's long.

WASHINGTONPOST.COM reports:

Hipster men of the world, rejoice: Those ridiculous mustaches you have been growing are more than a fashion statement.

I've had a full beard and mustache since I was 18 and just can't imagine what it would be like to have no facial hair. I, thanks to the aging process and my refusal to dye anything on my body, have recently removed a goodly portion of the beard and reimaged myself with a goat tee type style. I got to tell you that my skin on the now naked cheeks doesn't know what's happening to it. Since I have done this I've had to visit a dermatologist twice now. Amazing. :) I think once everything goes white.. I'm Santa Claus!

    Ha!

    Where the money goes, huh?

GOT to be kidding me. 1st, why am I here? "Are mustaches good for you?" F**KING embarrassing I put myself in this discussion! 2nd, mustaches are irritating to wear and disgusting to tend; holy Hell mustaches aren't worth it. 3rd, what happened to the ladies of today? I keep finding myself looking at several of them walk around with mustaches (thin, but existent) as if they think no one can see it: sure as s**t we can see it; it's hair tarnishing their beautiful lips! REMOVE IT or, in the least, dye it invisible--INVISIBLE. I was at a fair and saw a woman with a FULL mustache and beard, Pei-mei stylee. WHAT. When do you just give up like that? Goodness, I hope I don't see another intentional beard and mustache on a woman like that again.

They are not trying to attract you. They don't even know you exist...Why does it offend you?

Huh. Are you speaking of the discussion, mustaches, or the women? Haha

I already did numbers so I'll just cleverly use letters this time. :b If I'm wrong about my assumptions, just excuse them since your response was not entirely specific:

A.) Honey, this is a commenting board, plus I already acknowledged my being here is not something I'm proud of--an implied reason that I have nothing better to occupy my interests--is it boredom?

B.) I think I made it clear that I don't like mustaches, so certainly they are not attractive to me; I find it unlikely that they are intended to attract me, so that leaves out that--it's a win-win!

C.) People generally aim to be attractive. It's by my interests on whether or not women with mustaches appeal to me, so uhh.. yeah.

And I can't say any of this really offends me; that suggests I take insult to a facial-hair style, which is not the case. It's just something I am passionately against.

Lol, I think it hurts everyone's pride when they realize they are commenting on a mustache question as though worthwhile research was put into the question. Actually, I was just wondering about your opinions on women's 'staches. I guess since I don't view women as dateable (sp?) it doesn't bother me that some women can grow that--I'm just glad I don't. :D

Ha ok, yea, no thanks to any mustache (and beard--no facial hair, come on!). Well, brows and lashes are ok, of course; just make sure you have no less than two eyebrows.

Horribly damaging sight from that woman, though; it was a darn dangling crowbar 'do from that woman, plus, like, a deep scruff. I guess I can say it was, at least, impressive.

Ftr, dunno how the Hell we are to spell dateable either.

    ...datable. date-able? --wrong.
