Ladies, you might admire that guy at the gym for his burly biceps and pecs, but he might not be as dreamy as he looks. Men who are obsessed with beefing up their muscles are more likely to be sexist, new research finds, according to LiveScience.

"We think men who hold oppressive beliefs about women and gender equality are also more likely to endorse traditional stereotypes of masculinity, which includes the muscular physique," study researcher Viren Swarmi, of the University of Westminster in the United Kingdom, told LiveScience.
So why are gym rats more likely to be hostile toward women? Swarmi said it may be a reaction to changing gender roles. "In societies where patriarchal structures are being challenged, some men may seek to reassert their masculinity by enhancing their physiques," the scientist said.
Meanwhile, researchers suspect that men who engage in this kind of thinking may be suffering from negative body image themselves. They're also more likely to go for skinny girls: past research has found that men who hold stronger oppressive beliefs are more likely to find thinner women attractive. Doesn't exactly sound like Mr. Right ...

One particularly obnoxious bonehead became incensed when I wouldn't get off the sidewalk by the beach for him. He told me, "Squirt, I could pound you into a rat-hole. You barely come up to my chin".
When I explained to him about angles, leverage and punching power and took two steps towards him, he said, "Well, O.K.", and walked around me.
Some of them are using steroids - those you don't even want to be around unless you have a concealed carry permit and are packing a .357 Magnum or bigger.
It's funny how I'm sitting here typing this and there's an Old Navy ad with a chick standing in a skimpy tank top and matching panties staring me in the face. Are they selling intellect?
