Just finished reading a story about a lock down at a medical center in Buffalo New York that happened this morning. 2000 employees and patients... adults... were forced to remain inside a building with an alleged shooter...
I can understand a school... a shooting in the area... lock it down and keep the students safe.
But these are adults, they didn't go to school, they went for a doctors appointment. Then the police surround the building and force them to remain inside... where a suspected gunman is... so not only are they forcing people to remain somewhere against their will, they are forcing them to remain in a potentially deadly environment.
Don't we have a Constitutional right against unlawful detainment? Are these lock downs legal?

Whether your safety is in jeopardy or not. This is not Nazi Germany or Soviet Russia. That being said, it's probably not a good idea to try to leave.reply

- Your Favorite Nerd Guru 2012/06/13 17:30:19Yes....+1It does make it easier to find the criminal. People coming in and out of the building, the shooter could have slipped away. I was in a lockdown before at my school where a former teacher came in and was told to leave. He was found an hour later inside the school and began to attack. They did get him though in another hour. It was kinda scary, but it could have been worsereply
