Are you still nibbling on leftovers from Christmas dinner? Well, you may want to
think twice before heating up that five-day-old ham.
Cooked food that has been left out for more than two hours is a breeding ground for bacteria, experts tell ABC News.
In fact, leftovers shouldn't live in the fridge for more than four days, unless they're in the freezer. But stuffing and gravy go bad faster, and must be eaten or tossed within two days.
Suddenly, we're regretting that ham sandwich we had for dinner last night!
But there's something unappetizing about food that's been around for too long anyway. Recently, we ordered Chinese takeout, and planned on heating up the leftovers about two days later. To our dismay, the chicken was covered with nasty gray spots!
From now on, we're following the two-hour/four-day rule ... and when in doubt, we're throwing it out.

but they dont last that long
some foods taste better the next day
Chilli and soups are a good example
I'm sure the people in North Korea and Zimbabwe, who are eating tree bark and grass will be weeping like babies for you, poor thing. Eating those ham sandwiches.
But some things taste better the next day, or just as good!
when i was a child, at Christmas we would eat turkey, real ham, potato salad, pudding with custard, fruit jubes, chocolate coated nuts and fruit, Christmas cake. we drank Maison, I preferred rose, and regularly looked forward to a few extra days of leftover potato salad and usually toasted sandwiches with the meat on Christmas Day for tea, as we ate big at lunchtime..
