Olympic sponsorship by brands like McDonald's and Coca-Cola are in question by the International Olympic Committee. In an interview with the UK’s Financial Times, the IOC president Jacques Rogge said global obesity concerns had put a "question mark" over the sponsorship of the Olympics by high-calorie, junk food brands. Do you think the IOC should ban junk food ads from the Olympics or are they going too far?

NEWS.COM.AU reports:

If eaten in moderation the way fast foods were intended....there wouldn't be such a problem. People need to curb their poor eating habits and parents should teach their children proper eating habits....I bet the majority of Olympic athlete's eat junk food in moderation when they're not training, or at some point in their lives....

That's just crazy! You're not suppose to be able to use ebt foodstamps for hot foods for just that reason! I thought they were suppose to encourage healthy eating! What a bunch of numnuts! LOL

Yes of course. Without corporate sponsorship the Olympics wouldn't happen in the first place. Who do you think pays for things? The Olympics are expensive. People should stop blaming the companies for making the food and look to themselves for eating it.

Only if those brands have healthy food, has a clean record, and want to be part of the solution to the problem with obesity. As far as I know, however, most brands don't satisfy all three of those conditions.

Who are we to sensor what people choose to shove down their gullets? But I would draw the line if any of them said a diet of their product was the food of choice for athletes. Last time I looked, there was no lard @ss, big butt or hanging gut competition...
