Olympic sponsorship by brands like McDonald's and Coca-Cola are in question by the International Olympic Committee. In an interview with the UK’s Financial Times, the IOC president Jacques Rogge said global obesity concerns had put a "question mark" over the sponsorship of the Olympics by high-calorie, junk food brands. People need to take responsibility for their own diets - it's not McDonald's or Coca-Cola's fault that people eat their food in excess. Statements like this by folks like Jacques Rogge only serve to further the perception that people don't need to be responsible for their own actions.
"Hey before I go into bypass surgery- let me get a Big Mac and large fries"
It's naive.
Who do you think sponsors the sports teams world wide?????
Beer and Tobacco and Junk food companies, Lol, only in the last few decades has smoking cigarettes been banned on commercials supporting sports, but they still support sports teams.
Ironic, is it not, that the very things that prevent most people from becoming world class athletes are the very things the sponsors make, Lol, Now that's funny, I mean real funny, because if people didn't want it that way they could boycott the Olympics, and I myself do just that, but I'm the minority, most people don't care who the sponsors are as the Olympics always have sellout crowds.
One day after drugs are legalized, they will be sponsoring the Olympics (hide and watch) to get more people using their products, that's they way it works to get people using your product, to sponsor those that excel in life, Lol.
And most won't figure it out until they are diagnosed with diabetes, cancer or alcoholism, and by that time it will be to late to change, and the sponsors won't want anything to do with you either, because you would be 'bad press' in their mind, Lol.
It's a win-win situation for the sponsors, they get more lifelong customers for sponsoring the Olympics, and never ha...

It's a win-win situation for the sponsors, they get more lifelong customers for sponsoring the Olympics, and never have to do any of the nasty work like supporting you when their products make you sick later in years.
It's like selling candy to babies, Lol
Ether way it seems a bit late now to start questioning sponsorships.
I agree, they COULD use management as good as McD's. SO could the UN.
As always, it is about moderation. No one should eat McD's every day or every week.
