Olympic sponsorship by brands like McDonald's and Coca-Cola are in question by the International Olympic Committee. In an interview with the UK’s Financial Times, the IOC president Jacques Rogge said global obesity concerns had put a "question mark" over the sponsorship of the Olympics by high-calorie, junk food brands. Do you think the IOC should ban junk food ads from the Olympics or are they going too far?
NEWS.COM.AU reports:
THE International Olympic Committee is questioning the sponsorship of brands like McDonald's.

It is probably just a shakedown to get more money from the "unhealthy" sponsors like McDonald's. They threaten that they are considering it. Take some more payouts and then table the discussion.reply - Kaola 2012/07/10 07:45:55YesIt is healthy and source of their energy.reply

That's exactly right. Olympics need $$$ sponsors, so who cares where it comes from. As long as McDonald's is a willing partner, then the IOC should back off and keep them in the game! McDonalds Corporation is an international restaurant, a sensation in many countries around the world, including the same nations who send their own athletes to the Olympics.reply - Bob DiN Jen 2012/07/10 17:05:28

- Julian 2012/07/10 05:57:51No+1It's total hypocrisy to allow it. The Olympics is supposed to promote amateur sport and fitness. How can you promote junk food and health at the same time?reply
- Super_Doodles 2012/07/10 05:37:40Yes+3If the Olympics want their money, yes. Why should anybody say who gets to sponsor anybody else? Who really cares anyways? If you don't like junkfood don't eat it, simply Americanreply
- Gaven Small 2012/07/10 05:32:32Yes+3they can sponsor whatever they want and if you really want health food advertised so bad why dont you shell out the cash for ads and sponsorships promoting healthier choices.reply

They are just sheep going with the latest fad.reply - marty 2012/07/10 04:36:08Yes+1Why not? Food is food. It depends on how much of each is consumed. If one watches their weight and stays active enough, fast food won't make a difference. If one eats vegetables all the time, they'll be malnourished. It's all about balance and control. Certain fast food joins have stressed healthier options. I use to slam McD all the time for their 'unhealthy' food, but they're not obligated to serve healthier options. The fact that they do, shows that they care enough for their customers, if not their money.reply
- Jada_Ringo 2012/07/10 04:28:50Yes+2It kind of contradicts the whole "stay healthy" part of the Olympics, but money is money.reply
