Olympic sponsorship by brands like McDonald's and Coca-Cola are in question by the International Olympic Committee. In an interview with the UK’s Financial Times, the IOC president Jacques Rogge said global obesity concerns had put a "question mark" over the sponsorship of the Olympics by high-calorie, junk food brands. Do you think the IOC should ban junk food ads from the Olympics or are they going too far?

Not that the Olympic committees (or whoever authorizes such things) will let that influence their decisions in the slightest.

The Olympics are a huge event, and it takes a lot of sponsorship to keep them going. If these places want to sponsor it, then it is between them and whomever handles such business dealings for the Olympics. I'm getting really sick and tired of us "fighting obesity" by trying to go after places like McDonalds. I don't eat there, that's my choice. That doesn't mean I am going to run around and try to take it away from everyone.
Junk food is the choice and responsibility of the CONSUMER or the consumer's PARENT(s). Until EVERYONE takes ownership of that, obesity is never going away no matter how many bans are in place.
McDonalds and other fast food wouldn't exist if people didn't eat it. It's the person's choice to eat it or not, and they pay more than making a quick meal at home. People are lazy, and if they weren't lazy then eating McDonalds wouldn't make them fat. You don't get fat because you eat McDonalds, you get fat because you eat McDonalds and then sit on the couch doing nothing.
Get off their asses and do something and they can eat whatever they want. Blaming McDonalds for obesity fits in well though, lazy society gets fat and then takes the easy, lazy, excuse that it's someone elses fault.
