Some studies say that fertility rates are declining, especially in westernized cultures.
Some claim it is just a socio-economic thing: that people choose to have fewer children and rely on prevention to maintain small families. Other studies claim that it is biological: that something about the way we live or the foods we eat are reducing fertility. Some claim that libido is dropping. what say you?

according to many medical surveys, fertility is declining also. Especially in the area of "desire".reply - Dolly 2012/07/03 18:32:59I think food additives/pollution might be to blame
reply - L1 2012/06/30 04:47:41None of the aboveDepends on who you ask, and where you look. There are plenty of people who have a lot of kids, and then there are others who don't.reply

but overall the size of families is falling.reply - L1 flaca BN-0 2012/06/30 05:10:51
+1I dunno. I see plenty of people in my city that have three kids minimum. Some of these people are recent immigrants.....reply -
+1that may be true, but overall, family size is declining in the western world.reply - L1 flaca BN-0 2012/06/30 14:45:31
Maybe more in Europe than the US though. We still get enough people with more than 2 kids in a family...reply - Metaldane 2012/06/30 04:42:58I think it's purely socio-economic+1Right now very few want more then one or two kids instead of in the past where we preferred 4+ because kids cost more now and there's no real reason to have very many. Plus many people are choosing adoption over having their own due to the fact there are so many kids without parents and that the world population is getting too large.reply

I agree on some points. But the fact is that most people who adopt (most, not all) do so because they are unable to conceive (usually because they're past the age when conception is easy)reply - Metaldane flaca BN-0 2012/06/30 04:58:07
I know I work with the kids in the system but many who do adopt do it because they already have a kid of thier own and decide to adopt for a second one at least that's what happens in my state can't speak for the others.reply
