convenient, until you get a screwed-up order, drive home, turn-around, drive back, shout at the window attendant! & drive back home for your cold meal; Really, its much quicker, to go inside, watch them bag your meal & then, with a correct order, drive home & enjoy your meal!
A drive thru can help with a few logistics problems, congestion inside an establishment, lack of parking space, better and/or easier access for those who are physically challenged.
For customers it provides a good option many times if they are pressed for time, tired, have a social disorder, etc.
That being said, I haven't been through a drive thru in years. I always go inside my pharmacy, bank, etc., I have found it cuts down on miscommunication and gives me a chance to get to know many of the employees. I don't eat fast food period so that doesn't apply to me.
To me, it doesn't have anything to do with being lazy it's a time thing. When I use them (which isn't often, I loathe eating while driving) it's because I just don't have time to go in and eat. Depending on the line though, sometimes it is faster to run in and get your order to go. If I pull into the parking lot and there is only one or two cars in line. It's faster than going in
I use them more often than I like to admit. I live alone and work odd hours. If I cook, I go over to my son's and cook us both dinner. Cooking for just myself is too damn lonely.
what if youre a mom with a bunch of kids in the car?? it was such a hassle to get them all out of the car and take them in. so sometimes its not so much a matter of laziness.
A lazy class of society? Really? And what does "you have to love and Choose wht is available" even mean? The lower classes do tend to eat fast food more. One is going to choose what they can afford. The working poor often do not have the option to buy better but more expensive food. It is classist to assume that such people are lazy. Many of the hardest workers fall into the working poor class. These are also the people who are marginalized and unable to get benefits from the government because they "make too much money." You need to check your assumptions.
Both... it's lazy, but it's also damn convenient. It would be ideal to park and go inside rather than sit there idling your engine (sometimes for quite awhile, depending on the line-up).
That's utter nonsense... if the amount of time it takes to walk in (rather than idle at a window) is enough to disrupt your schedule, you simply don't have the time to be there, period. It's even faster to go inside, many times.
It's not utter nonsense, you can do whatever you want with your time pal, that's doesn't bother me, don't tell me I don't know what is the more efficient option in my scenario.
It may be more efficient for you, sure, but it's utter nonsense that having a job with a tight schedule means you can't take the extra time to walk in and out. I'm not judging your particular choice; I'm judging your judgement of others.
My experience has never been that walking into a restaurant is the fastest option. There are obviously more reasons than just not wanting to walk in, its simpler to sit in your car and it's also much more comfortable to sit down and eat somewhere other than a fast food restaurant.
I can understand that. Perhaps it's a location thing... drive-thrus around here (during a typical lunch hour) are far worse than the inside of the restaurant. It has taken 10 minutes at a drive-thru and closer to 5 minutes inside, for me. If my experiences were similar to yours, then I'd definitely take the drive through. I don't eat inside, though, I walk in, order it, get it, walk out.
