When it's raining and you don't want to get out. When you have a kid in a car seat and you don't want to go through the process of getting him out every single stop. There's a million and one scenarios that could cause someone to go through the drive thur other than being "lazy"
If I find going inside will be faster then I'll go, but 79% of the time it's not.
Would you rather go into CVS with a toddler or pick up your persriptions at the drive through?
Think about it. When you enter CVS all the collectables, tourist stuff is right in front. Its cheap but expensive and draws little kids too it. They start crying because you can't buy it for them and it becomes a nightmare.
The drive through lets them continue sleeping in the back of the car while you pick up your scrpits.
I can go inside when I'm with a friend but when I'm alone I only go inside if it would be quicker. I have mild social anxiety and if I'm alone it is just less nerve wracking to use the drive through.
I think its both. convenient but sometimes lazy. Its kind of silly to see 6 people at the drive thru and only 2 people inside. but most of the times its convenient.
I prefer going inside because you can talk to the people and get to know them, but if I'm in a rush and need my espresso the drive-through is quicker not just because I don't need to park and go in, but because drive-thru gets priority.
Sometimes people don't have time to sit down and eat, sometime's they gotta go somewhere and don't have time to make something. I don't think it's lazy at all.
They are actually convenient but also lazy. One that I use mostly is Dunkin Donuts to grab a quick coffee. What aggravates me though is when you get stuck behind a donut muncher who stalls the line while they get their munchkins, a dozen donuts that they must be selecting each and every other one, a sandwich and, oh yeah, a coffee, a latte, a juice, etc, etc. Go inside with that order... use the drive through as the fast lane!!! Because of those people, I picked "lazy." Oh well, I know it will never change.
That's true and office orders have got to be the worst thing to order at a drive through. Those people need to remember what Joe Pesci said about drive throughs in Lethal Weapon 2 "They f you at the drive through...."
That's why you always have to check your order. I was in a restuarant an ordered a meal to go and they still got it wrong, thankfully I hadn't left yet.
I'm not going to park, walk in, wait in line, wait in the building, get my drink, still wait, and get my food when I can drive to the drive-thru, get my order, pay, and get my food.
I said as much the first time I saw one when I was little.
To this day, I still always go inside.
I've only used drive-up service a few times in my life.
Drive thrus can be both convenient and lazy. They are convenient when there aren't many cars, but lazy if you have cars wrapped around the building, but no customers inside.
If I find going inside will be faster then I'll go, but 79% of the time it's not.
it save valuable parking space and allows the automated system to serve a large volume of customers..
as a customer, I do not have to deal with the general population , crowds , and I can wait in my car with out have to find a park place...

Well, personally I don't see the need for them. I'm a meat and potatoes kind of guy- I don't eat fast food. I make a pot of stew and that will do.
"They f you at the drive through...."
Yeah, they almost gave me a happy meal when I ordered just a large diet coke

It's one of those fine-line scenarios, I think.
To this day, I still always go inside.
