Don't be silly. It's pretty normal to want to stay alive. Even though Christians can find comfort in knowing that they will spend eternity with their Lord and Savior, our mortal life here is all we have known. Facing the ultimate transition face to face can certainly be unnerving.

Although, having said that, about a year and a half ago I suffered a stroke. I was pretty sure my time was nearly up. I remember clearly that I wasn't afraid of dying, but deeply saddened at the prospect of not being able to enjoy my life.

Now, I wouldn't say I have remarkable faith. I'm just an average guy. And when the chips were down, I was confident in the promises my Savior had given me and all that believe in Him. But, I wanted to go home to my wife, my pups. My fear was about losing them, not dying.

I fear judgment. It isn't because I lack faith, it is because I am convinced of it so completely, and I know what I deserve to have coming to me.

Yes? No? Maybe? I have no idea. All I know about Christians is what I have observed and as far as I can tell there is very little consensus.

I suppose that most of us fear pain, whatever our faith, as flesh is weak.

I am surprised and smiling ...
You might be deceived, as you never saw me. Sorry, I have already a certain age and I may be old-fashioned.
I love to see people from everywhere and to show them around when they are visiting me or doing sightseeing abroad, but for the moment, my free time is too limited, as long as I am working. I plan, after retiring, to make trips and visit friends or have them visit me. You would be welcome.

Christians, Muslims, Hindus, & All Other people with any beliefs, in the same BOAT. In Rough Seas. All religions preach the same you mind Set & will to adapt a major factor. Thinking of this is half achieving GOD. you yourself, experiance his existence in you through your eyes, the only way to experiance him and stay in that mind set till DEATH.

It is a great comfort knowing that I will spend eternity with my Lord and Savior; however, I do not love and embrace pain and suffering. The fear is not of death, it is of the method of death and the anguish of my children that I leave behind. Fear is a normal feeling and does not show a lack of faith.

People who consider themselves as be Christian, and are afraid of death, have not read and/or accepted God Almighty or Jesus Christ's statements on falling asleep in death. But, all of us would fear a painful or gruesome death.

I disagree. It's so normal for humans to fear death, that Jesus even feared it.

Read the Gospel accounts of His prayer in the garden at Gethsemane.

I think that any Christian who looks both ways before they cross the road doesn't actually have faith that their god will protect them.

Looking both ways before crossing the road is a self-preservation ability that God gave us. God granted us the wisdom to understand that we need to do that.

He also gave us eyes to see the traffic, and ears to hear it coming.

So you'll have to come up with some other smart-aleck comment with which to take a shot at religion. I just destroyed yours.

Trust in God's plan. Looking both ways shows a lack of faith in God's plan. I believe that everyone is an atheist, and no one actually truly believes that gods exist.

Destroyed what? My religion? Sorry I don't have one. If I wanted to be a smart aleck I would post something like this...
plan atheist believes gods exist destroyed religion smart aleck post

It isn't really sacrifice unless every fiber of you wanted what you were giving up, it isn't humility unless you really want to put that jerk in his place and it isn't really courage unless you are absolutely terrified of what comes next. Everyone fears dying, its built into our DNA. Faith doesn't take these fears away from us, it just gives us the tools we need to deal with them and the knowledge that no matter where we go we never have to alone, that there is always someone there with us the light our way.

Death is Part of life We Pagans fully understand we are not meant to live forever in this form
this body will die and return to the Earth our Essence will live on in a new form
Via Reincarnation ( i know you dont believe in it but its cool :) )
Buddhists also accept that Death is part of life
    Athiests accept that also

Abraham cult somehow believes when the end of the world comes
they are all going to live forever with thier jesus

i hope they are reincarnated as a sheep next

that is a hilarious concept and it would be great fun if they did become sheep.

I have read a bit about reincarnation and do find it to be a very unusual concept to grasp.

Jesus even feared death; read the Gospel accounts of the Agony in the Garden to see for yourself.

And we certainly can't say that Jesus lacked faith. Fearing death is normal, and it has nothing whatsoever to do with faith.

By the way, millions and millions of people around the world who believe in God and who are sick and dying do not fear death. We just lost a very dear friend from our church, and she didn't fear death at all. She was ready.

He didn't fear death, he was asking the Father if there was another way. Fear in and of itself could be considered worry, which the Bible states repeatedly not to be from God.

He asked, if it were possible, for "this cup" to be removed. Sounds like at least some level of fear to me.

All throughout the gospels, Jesus made it clear that He came to die. It wasn't death He feared, when He asked for the cup to be removed. It was the separation from His Father, that he abhorred. God turned away from Him because He became sin. It was the same holy fear that should drive us.
