Some folks come around to the same old subject and can't move on or just can't get past their own racism. Does the confederate flag really matter?

Marie/M2M2K™-#1Conservative... 2012/02/22 22:12:40No, it doesn't. Just move on.+16Their b*tching and moaning and name-calling has accomplished nothing. I still fly my rebel flag beneath Old Glory and I don't give a d@mn what they think. Aren't there more important issues facing this country?

The First Official Flag of the Confederacy. Although less well known than the "Confederate Battle Flags",the Stars and Bars was used as the official flag of the Confederacy from March 1861 to May of 1863. The pattern and colors of this flag did not distinguish it sharply fom the Stars and Stripes of the Union. Consequently, considerable confusion was caused on the battlefield.
Thus they adopted the Battle flag
This was the flag of the west florida dragoons know as the Bonnie Blue..
Out of necessity. Or symbolism. Depends on the Historian you read.
Impressive. :)
Here are the top reasons for the civil war..
1. Economic and social differences between the North and the South.
2. States versus federal rights.
Slavery became an issue when lincoln thought of he took away the slaves the south would cave in to his demands.. Lincoln himself said he didnt want to take the slaves
Abraham Lincoln, the 16th president of the United States, issued the Emancipation Proclamation, which led to the end of slavery, on January 1, 1863. He issued it because on September 22, 1862, he had warned that if the states of the Confederacy, or South, didn't return to the Union, or North, by January 1, 1863, he would declare their slaves "forever free." The South refused to return to the Union, so Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation.
The War started in 1861 ,,,,,,,,DUHHHHHHHHHHH...

This all happened because the North went to war with the South mainly to reunite the nation, not to end slavery. This war is also known as the Civil War. The civil war was already 2 years ongoing befor lincoln used the Slavery issue to get the south to return to the Union..
Officially, the Civil War began on 12 April 1861 ,, Lincolns proclamation was in 1863.. The War was fought originally over economic and separation from the union issues...
However my point was,, Who were the culprits that brought slaves into this country.. It damn sure wasnt the southern states or thier ships.. The slave trade was a lucrative business and the North got their share of it.....
Some people merely see if as pride for their southern state, like patriotism.
Some see it as a personal attack to the northern states of the US.
And others see it as supporting slavery and rascism.
Most often, it's a sign of pride. So I have no problem with it, I think people should get over it. It is history after all.
