They aren't, but just being more expensive sure doesn't make them 'better'.

I am used to wash my hair daily. my hairdresser advied me a special sensitive shampoo. I could notice that it has calmed my scalp that has itched often until the change of shampoo.

..I get the cheapest shampoo in the store, so I hope they're all the same..I look at the ingredients but that doesn't really help much without a PhD in chemistry...

Not at all. Some shampoos make my hair feel sticky, frizzy, or too heavy, and there are many where I have to use a lot of shampoo in order to wash my hair well. I have been using Bed Head: Control Freak shampoo and conditioner for years and I love it. Even when it was significantly more expensive than normal, grocery store shampoos, it was worth it. It would take me about 2-3 months to go through one bottle of shampoo, while with the cheaper brands, I finish the whole bottle in a few weeks.

No....ones containing sulfates make my scalp itch. I use one by Natures Gate that is sulfate free and costs about $10.00 for 18 ounces.

Both my daughter & I have very thick, very oily hair. We both have to use a specialty shampoo about once a week to prevent the oil from building up.

Different stroke for different folks. When my hair wad so long I HAD to use Fructis or it dried out and broke easily (which it has a tendency to do anyhow). Now that it's shorter I use baby shampoo (it's lavender scented!).

Not all the shampoos are the same because different shampoos leave people's hair in different conditions. I personally like Aussie's Aussume Volume shampoo and conditioner. I used it once when I was briefly living with a friend and I've never gone back!

I pay a premium for men's salon shampoo because the regular stuff never rinses out of my hair. I don't like to sit in the shower for an extra 5 minutes rinsing my hair out only to have to continue to have suds in it once I comb it.

Pantene Pro-V shampoo and Herbal Essences - Hello Hydration conditioner are the best things EVER to happen to my hair. My hair is shiny, healthy, and smells gorgeous all the time :D I know I sound like a terrible and cheesy ad, but it's true. The amount of comments I get on my hair is unreal. Other shampoos leave my hair rough, or not smelling nice at all, or dull. I don't know what's in these, I just used trial and error, and ended up here.

Back when I had hair enough to worry about shampoo the top two I thought were the best products were Infusium or Aussie.

Nothing, but nothing beats Infusium leave-in conditioner. I have NO idea what is in it, but it's the most incredible stuff I ever used. When I was still on my bike I used to unbraid my hair on the ride home and let it fly in the wind (Hagar loved to watch it). Infusium was the only thing that let me comb it out without removing half of it. Stuff is INCREDIBLE!

My hair is extremely oily, if I use that my hair gets really greasy. I have to use a B & B conditioner, slightly more expensive per bottle, but not by much $15 for a month supply.

I think bottom line, they are. Different smells, different prices, but if you look at most of the ingredients, they're all pretty much alike.

Some are just more expensive than others ;) Iuse Tresseme for shampoo and conditioner, Garnier Fructis for styling products. Same products at a fraction of the price. Got find places to save while not compromising on quality.
