Apple Sets Record for Company Value at $623 Billion: Is Apple the Greatest Company of All Time?

As a stock. I choose it over Google. There are those that say it will hit the $1,000.00 mark next year.

Apple is a idea-copying company which con people out of their money for some cheap old tat that you don't even need. Products like the iPhone 4s are no different to the other 3 and whats worse, their new idea Siri cant understand Irish people!. What about the iPad?
they have made a new one which is smaller, OMG its barely any different and people will spend hundreds and thousands on this cheap tat. There are other touch screen phones that you can buy that are a thousand times better take the Samsung Galaxy S2 which is actually cheaper and a lot better. Apple are a hypercritical company and always will be.

I don't understand people complain about wall street, are the first one buying these new phones.

I say no just because I feel like the development of new technolgy is ruining our society, but we can't stop it. Besides it's making a bunch of over priced products that will be forgotten as soon as the next version comes out.

I'll give them credit, they've come a long way since the Apple2c, but I think Microsoft makes better products.

Well seeing that they pay their Chinese laborers less than $400.00 month and work them 11 hours a day, 6 days a week to a point they were jumping out of windows because they really have no alternatives, I will say "no." Their workers can't afford an Apple computer, iphone or ipad. Are they the leaders in capitalist greed and worker exploitation, "yes." So it all depends on your goal. Yeah, Apple.

Apple creates products that work. Sure the tablet pc has been around for years, but there's a reason why it barely caught on. Windows 8 is a joke.

For a company that works people to death, sure.

It is a company that makes overpriced ancillary products. The oil companies do magnificent things with technology and pulling oil out from the depts of the earth in the middle of nowhere, refine it and deliver it to every has station as the life blood of our economy despite people like Obama making it as hard as possible and do it for cheaper than Starbucks can make a cup of coffee. That is just one example of an amazing company that trumps apple by far.

I'd be embarrassed to show that I own an Apple product. I hate the snobby elitism that seems to go with them, especially as I think they're too restrictive (control freaks).

I think these two are.

Valve Corporation has unthinkable customer satisfaction, is a private company, is run in a boss-less environment, and makes more money per employee then Apple or Google. For nearly a decade, they have more then doubled their profits every year, and with there growing base of platforms, a move into apps and programs on top of games, and the creation of new technology that could compete with Google thats not slowing down anytime soon. Also, they have a customer base who Valve market to so effectively, that you will literally see customers complain about how they drained their bank accounts, but do so in a way that frames it clearly as a compliment. Cstomers love to spend huge amounts of money on Valve. Oh, and in the video games they make...well, Free to Play with an optional store seems to be the wave of the future, making companies much more money then traditional sales models. The normal FTP game has a turnover of about 1 or 2 percent of players buying stuff from the store. Really good, successful games get more like 5. Valve gets well over 50%. Valve are as profitable as the most cutthroat of companies, and it is entirely because they are so damn good to their customers.

After Valve, Id say Google. Considering their size and the incentives in place, they are remarkably good at the whole, "Don't be evil" thing. I trust them WAY before I'd trust Apple. They have substance to Apples style.

In terms of $$ it possibly is, in terms of anything else, not even close.

Apple may be the greatest company, but I'm sure as hell that it ain't the best. Apple is successful just because it's cool...and it's Apple.

I can't say one way or the other since I can't afford any of their products.

A companys value dollar wise is not the only thing to consider. They have a good product, but as usual, they come out with a good idea, cripple it for real computer users, then someone comes out with something better.

They make objects of desire but the objects are not life and death important. If a company is "the greatest" simply because it makes the most money, what if were some company that makes cigarettes? Would you call a cigarette manufacturer "the greatest company ever" knowing that they also a menace to pubic health? If I could produce $640 billion dollars worth of chemical weapons would that make me a greater company than Apple?



The "greatest company ever" would have to be one that ended starvation or eradicated breast cancer and it wouldn't matter how much money they made. I can live without another iPad or cellphone.

Stock value over time proves that yes Apple is the greatest.
