But they do have a following as smart as the "birthers"!

I would go with Big Oil or Big Coal. Without them, iPhones and other gadgets would be paper weights and people would freeze to death and travel would be like the game Oregon Trail. Perhaps Monsanto.

What an asinine premise. Marketing and product alone do not a great company make...

No..not by a long shot. Were it not for lemmings with nothing better to do with their time or money, Apple would not be a major player.
  • trash 2012/09/18 15:56:35
It's good but it's not the greatest.

A new model every year and no flash player. I'll stick to watching movies online with my Droid

They don't use Americans to do it.

No, I would say the Edison Light Bulb factory. I believe all his workers were americans. Irish, scot, german, native, pacific islanders, asian, latino and on and on. Come on apple, how about some workers here.
  • DrDelos 2012/09/18 15:15:06
A truly GREAT company would never DREAM of selling a product with a non-replaceable battery. That is far worse than even planned obsolescence, it is planned (and forced) worthlessness. These playthings are disposable toys for yuppies.

It's one of those things that people buy for the brand, not the product. Stick the Apple Inc. logo on the back of a dead mule, and people will rush to buy it.

If my girlfriend turned into an iPhone or my iPhone had a vagina, I'd be happier. Is there an app for that?

Computers? *cough* Apple's computer components are exactly the same components that are available in online outlets. Maybe you're thinking of yesteryear, when Apple had the PowerPC monopolized? Or, maybe you're confusing Apple's refusal to support any but their own "branded" components?

As for phones, a lot of 'Droid owners would like to argue that.

They definitely have the best computer operating system, the best made computers, and the best smartphones. They changed the world with the iPod and iPad. All of their software is also world class. They are certainly on the top of their game. They are not perfect but pretty darn close to it as a company.
  • kevinlim AngelArs 2012/09/18 16:13:01
Yes because who needs flash player or a cheap webcam that will take only 20 bucks to replace

A great free-enterprise-capitalist company. Jobs was the ultimate capitalist despite what the 99%ers carrying their iPhones think.
  • Myopinionmatters 2012/09/18 14:00:49
Absolutely not, the make a decent product, but they are not the best company at all.

I use Apple phones and computers and ipads. Great stuff but best company ever? no. I think about companies like GE and drug and medical equipment companies that make things like xray machines, light bulbs and train locomotives when I think of great companies. Basically the products that Apple makes are non-essentials.
  • Temlakos~POTL~PWCM~JLA~☆ 2012/09/18 13:43:26
Companies come and go. Especially when their arteries harden. Apple looks as if it's doing for hardware what Microsoft did for software. But will it last?

Almost certainly not. Jobs left Apple, Apple suffered. Jobs returned to Apple, Apple prospered. Rinse and repeat - except, Jobs ain't coming back this time.

It's going to be a couple of years before we can say that Apple is "on the rocks", but it's coming.
  • V~POTL~PWCM~JLA 2012/09/18 13:36:04
Apple has some great technology. However, the iPhone 5 docking connector fiasco is the latest in a series of money grabs and planned obsolescence.

Ironic, an Apple zombie calling someone a fanboy. Apple's computers rank #4 in reliability, with IBM/Lenovo and Toshiba and Asus in the top 3 places. Those 3 computers run Windows OS. Apples can get viruses, they are way behind when it comes to hardware, and they are the most overpriced POS on the market today. Welcome to reality, enjoy your stay.

Do you mean they copy stupid software and plug it in much better devices with a lot of options and sell them in less price?
Oh god what's a smart greeny little creature I adore it.

is the public finally getting over the Steve Jobs hero thing? Never could figure why Gates was always the bad corporate guy and Jobs the good one, even though in terms of business practices and philanthropy, Gates was an angle compared to Jobs.

Uhhhh - philanthropy? Gates made his billions, now he's searching for immortality, just as the Pharoehs of Egypt did with their pyramids. Angel? Hardly. Man to man, Jobs is ten times the man that Gates is - and I don't even like Jobs!!

You apparently don't know the definition of philanthropy, or else you're completely unaware of the Gates Foundation, etc. So why is Jobs so wonderful again ???

I'll type slowly, so that you can follow along.

Jobs was many different kinds of an ass - but he actually created a few things of his own. Jobs created things that never existed until he pulled them out of his head, or his ass, whichever.

Gates never created a damned thing in his life. He took over other people's creations. The sumbitch is an unethical, dishonest businessman, who got away with thousands of criminal acts. Gates didn't create Windows, Gates didn't create DOS, Gates didn't create squat.

Jobs was ten times the amn that Gates could ever hope to be.

And, being a philanthropist with all the billions he has stolen from the world doesn't make him any better a man.

They rip off their customers, planned obsolescence, deceptive marketing, overcharging. A good example is the 50$ phone chargers that they made useless so you have to go buy another 60$ charger.....scam

They're great at turning profit, branding, and mind control.
But since their methodology is to use borderline slave labor to churn out overpriced, subpar devices, it's sort of like using cheat codes.
  • Wyveryx 2012/09/18 08:42:35
    Apple is like Obama....

People like it because it's shiny...

Once the shiny wears off, they realize that it was nothing special in the first place.
