Apple starts out overpriced and goes up from there.

The Big Question: Whatever happened to posting some sort of article that gives context to the question?

IMAPC but if I wasn't so intimidated by Mac computers and I used them then I would want the best one available...as long as I had the money to do so!

more money for less, all you gain is faster boot up and better screen, but you give up the cd drive, remote detector, memory, some ports, etc.

not worth it, not yet. wait another 5 years or so, and it might be worth the while.

As long as they don't offer RGBLED based displays - which are way superior to White LEDs, it's not worth any upgrade. It's kinda unfortunate that the Macs have at most average components and ridiculous prices. Those who want impressive technology should head for Dell (Precision, XPS), HP (Elitebook, Envy) and Sony (Vaio Z and some others) ... and then there are things like Alienware and Clevo, but... I'll stop here...

sure dell works like a charm for the first month or so, then you hate the darn thing. ive read many reviews of people hating it, and havign to use dell at school, i can see why they hate dell, i also made the mistake of buyign a dell tablet, waste of my money! slow boot up, sure it has umongst the top specs, but it runs like a cheap tablet. same with the laptops, the scroll function does nOT work.

i would not take a dell if someone gave one to me.

No,not yet....Macbook pro is a couple years old and works great. I get a little nervous because while it does have a lot of extra upgrades, more ports etc. it doesn't have a cd drive....I will get the new iPhone when that comes out.

Yes, that is the wave of the future. Now and then I listen to music from cd's I already have that I load into my laptop and the last time the electricity was out I put in a dvd to watch. But you are right.....it is fast becoming obsolete. But, aren't you loving your Mac??? And it is so much easier to use with photos....

can still get the one with cd drive, but that ay not be for too much longer, if you need a new laptop, and want the mbp id do it soon, while you can still get the cd drive, my guess is they will be gone within a year or so.

My MAC is a great instrument. No viruses and always runs great. I don't know about this laptop because you didn't give any text to read, but if you can afford it, go for it.

too much for too little, 1500$ gets you 128 gb of memory, and no cd drive. not worth it, not even the intel i7. id wait 5 years, where that model will be cheap, or there won't be such thing as 128gb for tht price, for that price i should have at LEAST 500gb but id say more.

Why buy something like that? I'd never use it because I'd be afraid of breaking it.

Apple can swivel, i'm quite happy with my HP G6 with a "HD screen", which cost more than half the price of a Mac.

how old is your hp? probs less then a year, as the hp lifespan seems to be a year tops, my brother had an hp, crapped out at 1 year, my parents bougth an hp desktop to replace our old one, nothing downloaded, used for writting and web browing, (facebok, youtube etc) it completely crashed and did not work after one month. POS is what hp is.

mac may be twice the price, but last worlds longer

I don't think buying a Mac in general is worth it, unless you're in the art/design industry...
It would help if there was a description of what "Retina Display" is.

I have a pile of old PC's that have failed me, and a 3 year old Apple that has given
me flawless performance. When I upgrade it will be an Apple computer.

pc's used to be made with quality, had a compaq with xp when xp just came out, the computer lasted 6 to 7 years (got super slow) but it worked. now a days, that don't happen, not with pc's.

Apple is a sham, a scam and a downright rip-off. You can buy a similarly priced laptop with better a faster processor, better graphics chip and overall better reliability and performance than its Mac counterpart.

Oh by the way, Steve Jobs was a deadbeat dad and was well known to steal his employees ideas as his own. The man was a worthless, heartless prick and the world is a better place without him.

    yo dawg mac

Read his book and you might change your mind.He was a genius. Apple products are far superior than any other product out there. But, I have last year's model laptop and that will do just fine for a long time. All other laptops get viruses, Mac's don't. Other brands also don't have the same tech support as apple( which is strictly help given in America, not routed to a foreign land), and Apple people they know their products well and can answer questions quickly and without incident.
