I am a range officer at a range that is deep in the woods.. the No=Seeums, and the skeeters are horrible.. Try taking 50 percent Pure Vanilla Extract(not the artificial) mixed with water.. It works.. A lot of the guys stop using deet, and started using the vanilla . we all smell like fresh baked cookies but it cut down the bites by 90 percent.. There is no know 100% remedy known to man, other that staying submerged under water......

I actually replied to this the other day, but obviously my 'thank you' did not go through! I will certainly try this one - after all, there are worse things than fresh baked cookies that one might smell like! ;o)

Try honey or apple cidar vinegar or bentonite clay. Baking soda paste too

DEET is the main ingredient of the "chemical stuff" you're talking about.

yeah and it is a bit toxic. Got it in my eye once and had to go to the hospital. So no more for me.
